Owner Pokemon Returning to the TCG and Team Rocket Set Teased at Worlds!

There are many Pokemon in the format with actually scaling attacks. Charizard's attack isn't a true "scaling" attack, because the player has no control over the scaling beyond progressing the game. If your opponent doesn't take any prizes, Grimmsnarl will do more damage over the course of the...

Owner Pokemon Returning to the TCG and Team Rocket Set Teased at Worlds!

So much for "learning from your mistakes", Marnie's Grimmsnarl is basically TCharizard ex on steroids, while forcing your deckbuilding to be more shallow by sticking exclusively to Marnie's Pokemon. Absolutely awful design.

“Pokemon TCG Pocket” Demo Excludes Gameplay, But Articuno ex, Sabrina, and More “Genetic Apex” Cards Revealed!

I don't think it was ever confirmed or denied that this game was designed by the same people that design the physical card game. DeNA is the developer. It's very possible they're the ones handling the balance and design, coming at it with a fresh perspective and some obvious changes.

“Pokemon TCG Pocket” Demo Excludes Gameplay, But Articuno ex, Sabrina, and More “Genetic Apex” Cards Revealed!

I know we all love the art, but not showing gameplay is a huge red flag for me. This has the potential to be a really fun, tidy alternative to PTCG - as such, there should be no fear in showing it off.

Ultra PRO “Porygon Evolutions Stitched Playmat” Releasing for Pokemon Day!

I doubt Ultra Pro cares about feedback with these, but I feel like these might be okay if they went retro with the background. If you have access only to stock art, at least make it look like these old pieces of merch that were basically all stock art anyway.

“Paradise Dragona” TCG Set Officially Revealed Featuring Latias ex, Tera Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Dragon Pokemon!

With Lisia it's worth noting that this is the first Gust-effect printed in H block besides Prime Catcher. As such, there is a chance there might be a window where this is the only legal card of that type.

“Paradise Dragona” TCG Set Officially Revealed Featuring Latias ex, Tera Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Dragon Pokemon!

Not really. Yes, they would still be pretty dumb as support single-prizers, but they were both capable attackers in their own decks. This "can't attack next turn" type of attack has a laughable downside for its heavily inflated damage. So yes, that's what I meant by saying "they didn't stick a...

“Paradise Dragona” TCG Set Officially Revealed Featuring Latias ex, Tera Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Dragon Pokemon!

Latias ex being just a straight-up worse Zacian V/Miraidon ex in refreshing to see. It's still a potentially good card, just without a dumb acceleration ability stuck to it.

“Trainer’s Toolkit 2024” Revealed Featuring New Squawkabilly ex Promo!

I'm wondering what Pokemon they'll feature for 2025. Block H doesn't yet have a card like Squawkabilly ex - which is great, even when Squawk was a pretty inoffensive version of this type of effect. It's probably going to be Prime Catcher, then.

TPCi Ranked #7 Global Licensor for 2024, But First Revenue and Rank Drop in Years

The ranking only counts licensed product - t-shirts, backpacks, anything with a logo slapped on it that's produced by a third-party. TCG Pocket will have no effect on this ranking, as it's made by Pokemon for Pokemon and is not a retail product. It was very visible how Pokemon has massively...

“Trainer Tour” Pokemon TCG Reality Show Releasing on July 31st!

Pokemon also released a few "player vignettes" on their Youtube channel. They're largely inoffensive, but in my assessment not really interesting. You're not making it big on "Pokemon TCG Youtube" without having a mouth agape at a Base Set Charizard. What I would really want to watch is an anime...

Company Using X-Rays to Identify Foil Cards in Sealed Pokemon TCG Products: An Interview with Industrial Inspection

Honestly, this was always a danger with keeping boosters as "investment". This kind of technology isn't new, neither is weighing packs. If this causes the price of unopened packs to drop, that's pretty great. Buying unopened packs is already extremely risky and now you cannot trust any pack...

Full Translations for Eevee, Stellar Sylveon ex, Charcadet, and Stellar Ceruledge ex!

Celuredge seems strong with the Ace Spec revealed right after - one that dumps any five cards from your deck to your discard. This way, you can start swinging for 180+ on Turn 2, and that number will continue increasing as the game progresses.

“Battle Partners” Set to Release in Japan in January, Return of Owner’s Pokemon!

There were other mechanics before Tag Teams that featured multiple Pokemon, so I remain hopeful they won't repeat the same mistake twice in such a short time period. There are many cool ways to pull off the concept of "two Pokemon" without just making them into a single overpowered card...
