    General Neko's Moth-Watching Thread

I had to remove some of the secondary photos from the main post because I had reached the maximum number of images allowed per post! Now I should have room for a few more. I may eventually have to remove some of my least-favorite/less visually-striking ones. Here's my first new moth of August...

Help Fake cards? Need some help.

Empoleon and Prinplup look legit (Championship deck reprints), but the others are sadly fake. In addition to the border issues, the fonts are also off. You may even notice some typos if you look close. EDIT: Mismagius GL LV.X, for example, says to put it on Luxray GL in the LV.X rule box.

Question Do You Still Play Games From the Older Generations?

I find myself playing the past games way more than the 3DS games. I mostly Shiny-hunt and find the past Generations' rarer Shiny rate more rewarding. I don't play Red/Blue/Yellow anymore though since Shininess isn't denoted. I'm currently trying to build up full Shiny teams in VC Gold and...

With its gold border, I could easily see a Bug-Type Badge being modeled after the Blackberry Looper (another species of emerald moth). This one's female. Colorful Zale Another older moth, but here's what the Beautiful Wood-Nymph looks like with spread wings:

National Moth Week wasn't too kind. I think it came early for me, having found several cool things earlier this month and later last month (probably due to the summery spring). I only found one interesting new-to-me species during the week, then two just after. Still waiting for confirmation on...

    Discussion The Shiny Hunting Thread

Not what I was aiming for, but I got my first ever Ruby Version Shiny today! Not a shabby nature either. I may try using her to take-on the Orre Colosseum that I never beat before transferring her to SoulSilver to join my Shiny Furret (after I evolve and EV-train her, of course). I also...

    General Neko's Moth-Watching Thread

So begins National Moth Week! If you're wanting to spot some interesting moths, including giant silk moths, this may be the time to look! Keep your outside light on late or all night to see if you attract any cool visitors (warm, humid nights are ideal). Check around flowers as well for...

    General Neko's Moth-Watching Thread

Like true Underwings (Catocala), the False Underwing hides a splash of color on its hindwings. However, it belongs to a different genus (Allotria). And here's an early instar flannel caterpillar, which I believe belongs to the Black-Waved Flannel Moth since I've seen so many of those this...

Contest PokéBeach Create-A-Card: July 2018 - Unused Types ~ Official Judging is Now Up!

I used uncolored Sculpey Baking Clay and painted it (the leaves are paper and sticks are painted toothpick clippings).

Rescued a Giant Leopard moth from a spider web and posed it next to a Hebrew Moth for funsies. Concerning the bagworm I'd been keeping tabs on, it seems to have packed its bags and left. Here was the last pic I managed to take of it (withdrawn, unfortunately, since the wind startled it). It...

Contest PokéBeach Create-A-Card: July 2018 - Unused Types ~ Official Judging is Now Up!

Question: If I update only the artwork of my entry, will points still be deducted? I was thinking about taking another shot where Burmy doesn't blend-in so much with the background, hopefully one that will look better on the card's yellowish texture.

Pokemon Movie 22: 'Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution'

I wonder if New Island will be featured in Let's Go? I saw a map for the games the other day and noticed that Mewtwo was the only Legendary not placed close to its original encounter spot. It was to the lower right, flying above swirling clouds positioned close to where New Island was located on...

Greater/Lesser Grapevine Looper: Wavy-Lined Heterocampa: I also updated the pics for the Spiny Oak-Slug and White Flannel Moths in the main post.

More moth goodness! Spiny Oak-Slug Moth: Ironweed Root Moth: A Datana-genus moth (not certain which one): False/Crocus Geometer Moth: White Flannel Moth: Laurel Sphinx: National Moth Week is coming up soon, so hopefully I'll get some more cool visitors then!

    Pokemon Pokemon Name Origins

I don't know why it took so long, but I only realized within the past few years that Raticate's name comes from eradicate (to destroy) and Crobat's from acrobat. I think I was trying to come up with names for potential evolutions when I figured them out. Omanyte is ammonite (an ancient...

TCG Fakes Neko's Fake Creations: Cards, Screencaps, and More!

Simplified Grass-Type version of my submission to this month's CAC. I think the card looks better/more believable as a Grass-Type with a single attack. The sculpted art would probably work better on a VS or regular Neo template, but I'm trying to stick with my Gym-Neo style. This card would...

Contest PokéBeach Create-A-Card: July 2018 - Unused Types ~ Official Judging is Now Up!

Note on my entry: I intentionally left "Plant Cloak" out of the card name. There will be no "Alex's Wormadam" of any cloak, so I don't think there's any need for it. Yeah, I almost always strive to create my own art for cards. For me, faking is a way of framing my art. However, I can't seem to...

Contest PokéBeach Create-A-Card: July 2018 - Unused Types ~ Official Judging is Now Up!

I was inspired to make a Burmy card after seeing my first active bagworm this year.

My second giant silkmoth of the season, a Tulip-Tree Silkmoth (male)! He came flying to my porch-light at about 10:30 PM.

Oh snap, there aren't any letters left for Flying! It might be better to use two letters for these: [Gd] for Ground and [Fl] for Flying. (I would say [Gr] for Ground, but that might be too easily confused for Grass.)
