North American and European Regionals Locations and Dates Announced!

I'm looking forward to the season and send my commiserations to those whose local Regional was removed by what appears to be a season of deliberate downsizing, with Vancouver, Salt Lake City and Fort Wayne gone. It's good that this information has come out so early to allow people to make travel...

'Charisma of the Wrecked Sky,' Japan's SM7 Set Announced!

Looks amazing! Love the art. Competitively? Most likely, file away for use in September 2019 and not before, unless VS Seeker's reprinted (please no). At the moment, decks trending towards heavy counts of both Cynthia and Guzma, with other draw supporter options present, would preclude a lot...

Discussion Which Decks Take More "Skill" to Operate?

Generally speaking, a deck's skill ceiling comes from the amount of decisions a player has to make during a game, as well as the difficulty in getting those decisions right. As @Merovingian pointed out, control decks are usually the best example of these because you're usually selecting and...

    Discussion Experience vs Power

Buzzwole/Lycanroc is indeed very strong, and is probably more consistent than VikaBulu. But ultimately, unless you have the time on your hands to learn the ins and outs of Buzzroc you're probably better off playing what you're comfortable with. Plus, when VikaBulu sets up, it beats everything...

Fun Funnest Deck You Ever Played

I think the most fun I've had with a single deck was the windmill-slamming of Pokemon in PRC-GRI Despair Ray Mega Gardevoir, which I played at Seattle Regionals late last season. Mallow and Brock's Grit alongside the full complement of Shaymin with 2 each of Hoopa-EX and Dragonite-EX would...

    'Forbidden Light,' Japan's SM6 Set!

Hex Maniac's just too prevalent and accessible in Expanded. If I was going to do something like that, I'd make sure to play a bunch of Fire Pokemon and Lysandre Prism Star to remove the Hex Maniac from play so it can't be used and re-used. You can do the same to all the Energy you hate away as well!

    New Shaymin Promo

Nifty little card, that's for sure. Reminds me a bit of Shining Mew without the 30 HP drawback if you can get the energy into hand, and sometimes letting your opponent draw a card can be a good thing. I think it could see some niche play when it makes it to our shores. Maybe someone will figure...
