Well there would probably be deck in the format that weren't Zekrom, Resharim, Tornadus, Kyurem, and Cobolion... It probably needed a nerf, but I think they went too far. Maybe they should have prevented rare candying on the first turn for either player, but then let you same turn rare candy...

I think he was referring to the fact that a special energy card is two energy, rather than the fact that its a special energy card. The answer is yes, you can discard a double colorless energy.

So on an unrelated note, I think Weezing is a much overlooked gothitelle counter. One double colorless energy is all you need, so its splashable in any deck. Of course you die too, but you took out their tank.

You kinda need something like a dragon to soak up damage you've moved. But seriously, Cobalion is one of your biggest threats. Not only is it resistant, but you can't just sit there and tank because you won't be able to attack. So to introduce another pokemon in the deck that is weak to metal...

I'd really suggest resharim over the other dragons. If you face a cobalion deck you may be taking a 50-60 damage reduction because of resistance, eviolite, and special metal.

So option B is just to run a magnezone line. Since its helping you draw, its a nice tech to have anyway.
