Looking for a Decent Deck for a Tournament Next Week

If you're looking for Expanded the Keldio/Rayquaza Battle Arena set gives you two halfway decent Expanded decks, which can be modified to become relatively competitive. They go for about $30 in the US, not sure what they would go for elsewhere. The Keldio deck is Archie's Blastoise strategy...

    Standard Escape!

Seems like Ace Trainer would be a natural fit for this deck. Also, since you're already running grass maybe add in a Vileplume line for item lock? Not sure how much space that would take up compared to what you would loose to make that happen. Also, why so many escape ropes? Seems like 1 or 2...

Is the Rayquaza vs Keldeo Battle Arena Kit Legal?

Correct. Or you can pull out the Standard cards and make a different deck with them. At my league, everyone plays Standard, but a few players also bring Expanded decks for fun sometimes.

    Expanded Yanmega/Frozen City

I would recommend adding in Xerosic for the extra tool removal. It would be really god against garb, in addition to allowing you to more easily add in head ringers by removing the spirit links or fighting fury belts already attached to their attackers. Also, Ultra Ball is almost universally...

    Expanded Help With Deck

I used to run a deck like this in the last Standard format. It was my first so it wasn't very good, but it was pretty fun. I used Zoroark with the Rush In ability and a float stone to easily switch out from Noivern to Gengar without needing to discard any energy, as well as a secondary attacker.

Expanded Deckbuilding Help and Advice on Fire Deck

There are two popular formats officially recognized by Pokémon for tournaments, Standard and Expanded. Rotation typically occurs around September, and removes a few sets from Standard. To my knowledge, Expanded has not dropped any sets since it's creation, but that could change in the future or...

    Standard M Mewtwo Y

The max elixir is not as important as the Mega Turbo, mostly because you want to mega evolve quickly and then the elixirs don't work. Plus the turbo has synergy with ultra ball. Use UB to discard the energy, then turbo it onto your Mega.

Can Promos and Cards from Theme Decks Be Used in Tournaments?

Yes they can be, most of them are the exact same cards as the version from the booster packs. That said, the theme decks themselves are generally weak. However, sometimes it's a good way to get specific cards if you're just starting out. Like the volcanion theme deck is a good way to grab two of...

    Standard Mega Venusaur

Yeah at the time of writing that I didn't have Hoopa so that wasn't an option. (Still don't have it, but after black Friday I now have some stuff to trade at my local league for it next week) When I was playing it, I used a 1-1-1 line of Vileplume (That's all I have). Worked pretty well once I...

    Standard M Mewtwo Y

Looks like an ok build if you want to use the new Mewtwo. Personally I think the damage change with Shrine of Memories version is better. Maybe another change could be escape rope instead of switch.

Discussion Which Booster Box Would You Open?

Ancient Origins and Breakpoint probably are the most sought after over Fates. AO has Giritina EX, golden Trainer's Mail, and Hoopa EX. BP has Greninja Break, Scizor EX and the mega, and Full Art Skyla. Just naming a few of the competitive desirable cards from the sets, not sure how being a...

    Standard (UPDATED)Vespiquen/Yeveltal/Slowking (First Competitive Deck)

Battle Arena decks have several competitive trainers, including VS Seeker and N/Sycamore/Lysandre. Some of the theme decks might have one or two of the more common ones like N or Sycamore, but I don't think any have VS Seeker. Seth Falls mentioned the newest one, Rayqueza/Keldeo, but there are a...

Standard A new way to run eevolutions?

Sounds like a really fun deck, but be aware that you lose that double electric energy if you get ability locked for a turn. I played against a deck that used Golurk but with fighting support using my Greninja deck, and one shadow stitching made him lose all his special fighting energy since he...
