Blog All I Do is Thin: The Buzz on Battle Compressor

You sir, deserve a swift kick in the rear. Or at least a pimple or two. What really gave it away was the first bullet point. Everything else was well done.

That's a photoshop of the lysandre's trump card page. Don't get overly excited like I did.

Discussion How to beat Night March

Who runs a 1-1 line of vespiquen? 2-2 is possible and they could prize a piece, but they're also commonly running puzzle of time now, so even knocking out one pair isn't a guaranteed win. I've just been playing a ton of Jolteon variants, and it sounds great on paper, but there's a million...

Discussion How to beat Night March

Hmm. Odd meta in those areas then. Ohio and the surrounding areas have been fully prepared to deal with Jolteon for months with a vespiquen line. And yes, it can one shot vespiquen, but that's not a good prize trade at a 1 for 2, not to mention the 2 turns required for energy attachment to a...

Alt. Format PRC-On: Zygarde EX / Regirock / Carbink BREAK

Interesting... she was originally reported to be in there. My mistake.

Alt. Format PRC-On: Zygarde EX / Regirock / Carbink BREAK

Korrina is likely receiving a reprint since it's part of the Zygarde-ex perfect battle deck. If it doesn't, i'll be highly surprised.

TCGO and Night March Trash Talking

If you find a deck you love, don't let anyone talk you out of it. Night march is honestly only good at the moment because it's the most consistent thing in the format, and it's definitely not unbeatable. It's just much less prone to dead draw than the rest of us. The return of N and the eventual...

Discussion How to beat Night March

Most NM decks are running vespiquen lines to deal with jolteon. While it definitely handles the NM portion well, it's useless once they hit you with the vespiquen.

Discussion How to beat Night March

That judge was actually wrong. The roll to determine first and second now happens before set up takes place. When first ticket was printed, that was not how it worked. Since then, the rule has changed, and first ticket is now essentially useless.

Alt. Format PRC-On: Zygarde EX / Regirock / Carbink BREAK

If the format is actually PRC-onward, bees won't have battle compressor anymore, and will become a non-issue anyway.

Discussion Is Marowak the End of Toad?

I'm with you on this one. An easy fix for this would have been to print a reverse version of battle compressor or a reverse super rod even. "Shuffle three Pokemon or basic energies back into your opponent's deck." But it hasn't happened yet. If they're rotating PHF out this year, it won't really...

    Discussion Slowking Breakpoint

I played against a variant last week that used toad/slowking/hammers and I wanted to cry in a corner. It's extremely disruptive and can be great in lock decks.

    Discussion Jolteon EX

It's definitely not unbeatable. There's flaws in every deck. As long as you've got a mega in the deck to deal with it, you'll be fine.

Discussion Regional: Time Constraints and Players Health

There's already a 45 second limit on turns, but it's just not monitored and enforced. I've had friends play against other players who are well known stallers, only to lose because even though a judge was asked to enforce the ruling, they didn't even give an official warning. Even then, 45...

Standard Garchomp Stomp (Garchomp / Lucario EX)

If I were you, I'd add a fourth Korrina. That's your bread and butter in a fighting deck, and especially in one that can abuse rare candy so easily.

Expanded M Rayquaza EX / Metal for Regionals

After having played a ton of expanded mega ray, the speed ray is definitely the way to go. It's way more technical though. Your son is going to need to practice a lot more with it to get the idea of the order of moving parts that he needs, but it swings hard and fast. I'd suggest taking a look...

Discussion Disappointed with Fighting Fury Belt

I think you're underestimating Jolteon. I think it'll be pretty widely popular in manectric, as well as anything with flexible energy usage. You're right, I didn't read the non-standard part, but judge and red card, along with delinquent, could also cripple them pretty hard. I'm with you on FFB...

Discussion Disappointed with Fighting Fury Belt

My response to this: When have you ever seen a night march deck that plays escape rope? And if they do, how often do they have it in their hand? Yeah, they could lysandre around it. You pretty much have to expect that. But then you're severely crippling their continued setup. Combine Jolteon-ex...

Discussion Disappointed with Fighting Fury Belt

Very true. I play a lot of mega Ray, and our best way of dealing with this has been sky returning joltiks to death. I'm sad we lost that ability now.

Discussion Disappointed with Fighting Fury Belt

I think the problem lies more in the prize trading here. You CAN knock it out, but usually you're using a 2 prize Pokemon to do it. Luckily this won't even be an issue thanks to Jolteon-ex coming soon!
