News August's English TCG Set: 'Burning Shadows'

I've always found the text blurbs for the English sets really vapid but "fight for what's right" is just yikes. Anyone could vomit up these preconstructed phrases.

News Summer 2017 'Island Guardians' Tins!

Look I don't wanna be that guy but that's a real bad angle on Tapu Koko's promo art. Edit: just to be clear I'm not criticising the art so much as I'm saying it looks like it has a big ol ding dong.

News 'Islands Waiting for You' and 'Moonlight of Alola': Japan's Next Sun and Moon TCG Set!

Sophocles is translated slightly wrong. The actual text is "Kill your dad. Then, draw 4 cards. Also, you have uncomfortable feelings about you mom now good luck."

I think the Mafamily just likes rocks my dudes, almost all their art across the TCG has big ol' rocks in it.

News Strengthening Expansion Pack, Best of XY Pack, and Ash VS Team Rocket Deck!

So. Another basic water -GX, and another basic dark(rai) -GX. Aka the two main archetypes rn. Welp, guess they wouldn't be archetypes if they weren't painfully ubiquitous. I think I've seen enough of Darkrai to last several lifetimes, including resurrections (HA HA jokefunny). EDIT: Also...

News 'Islands Waiting for You' and 'Moonlight of Alola': Japan's Next Sun and Moon TCG Set!

Ninetails-A is,,,bad. First attack is okay. Second attack is just okay. GX attack is good, but also easy to play around/a GX attack. I don't see any reason to play it over, man, even Lapras-GX, which can be much more consistent, and I think ultimately what Water would play.

News 'Islands Waiting for You' and 'Moonlight of Alola': Japan's Next Sun and Moon TCG Set!

Initially when I saw WW-GX I thought it was SUPERBLY underwhelming, but it could serve as a nice attacker in WaterBox. Water is a great type to be rn with excellent support like Lana, Rough Seas, Manaphy-EX, etc. With 80+ healing per turn, 210 HP + 40 from FFB is nothing to shake a stick at...

News 'Islands Waiting for You' and 'Moonlight of Alola': Japan's Next Sun and Moon TCG Set!

So, for a single coin flip and Victory Star, you've got a 75% chance of getting at least one heads (the possibilities are: 2 tails, one heads on first flip, one heads on second flip, or two heads = 3/4 possibilities of getting at least one heads). I don't think that's any less luck based than...

News 'Islands Waiting for You' and 'Moonlight of Alola': Japan's Next Sun and Moon TCG Set!

Yeaaahhh I was hopin for big money from Lele-GX and they delivered. Hopefully not in a literal sense. It's REALLY good. I have a feeling it won't be nearly as metagame centric as NXD Mewtwo-EX was at the time, however. Even the simple addition of the weakness clause dilutes it, and the context...

News 'Sun and Moon Strengthening Expansion Pack'

Hah. True. Also, I thought I was pretty in the loop but Choice Band? Are they printing that as a card? I just Googled to no avail.

News 'Sun and Moon Strengthening Expansion Pack'

I think we're underestimating how good this card could be. The better fire decks are almost entirely basics, and Hot Blooded Dance is N immune. The format is about to slow down significantly–not saying it's essential, but in a slow format this card could actually accelerate Fire decks nicely...

News 'Sun and Moon Strengthening Expansion Pack'

the pack art looks like an action blockbuster from the 80s. Lunala is the Big Bad and Solgaleo is the powerful Good Guy that dies because someone else is Chosen and its time is up

Discussion Opinion on GX Pokémon (GX VS. EX)

Glad somebody else brought this up. Fundamentally--that is, at the level of mechanics themselves--the two aspects of the game that have the most control over the meta are damage done and HP. How do you move away from an OHKO format (aka how do you slow the pace of the game)? Reduce damage...

Pokémon Generations - New Animated Series of Shorts!

That was really great. Shelly's voice acting was really good, especially by comparison to a lot of the dub VOs. And the perspective on the waves was inspired--I'm a sucker for the ocean, but that animation really communicated might and chaos. Flying Kyogre? Lazy concept. Like. Even just have it...

News First 'Sun & Moon' English Set News!

Bizarre that this mirrors the introduction of the original -ex mechanic. Lapras-ex was one of the first (and my very first!) -ex card. We also got -GX cards that evolve from regular type Pokemon, like the original -ex cards--at least as of Sandstorm. Actually, Lapras-ex was the very first rare...

Japanese 'Sun' and 'Moon' Expansions and Decks in December!

I hope they increase HP globally! It would be a great way of slowing down the game without taking the energy away. Also like...dual types? We gonna forget about those already???? I understand that dual types could not have been included in CP6 but I feel like skipping them for a set is an omen...

News 20th Anniversary Set in September + Surfing Pikachu and M Slowbro-EX!

Look at it this way, you'll save some money this release. Prof Oak is amazing, some of the trainers are good. Dragonite-EX is cool. Everything else is garbage.

News 20th Anniversary Set in September + Surfing Pikachu and M Slowbro-EX!

I believe they split Poison off because Grass had three types under its umbrella -- Grass, Poison, and Bug. All of these types had quite a few Pokemon, whereas the types for Psychic -- Psychic, Ghost -- had far fewer. As a result there were a lot of Grass cards, especially by comparison to...
