There's no set day to finish your matches. You will probably have a week or longer to complete round 1.

I would just try to play more conservatively against stall. This shouldn't be too difficult because before the match, you can see the opponent's team. When you look at it, you should identify your most valuable Pokemon against them, and plan a strategy in order to use those Pokemon to set up and...

It's fine. What I'm doing is I will just pair up the more advanced people with the other advanced people, to make it a little bit more fair so it should be fine.
