News America's November Set: 'Crimson Invasion,' Two Ultra Beast Premium Collections!

Sylveon can use N to remove the mulligan advantage in some of its games, and sylveon doesn't have a weakness to a techable attacker, and sylveon can search out other eevee's to prevent getting "donked", and sylveon can use removal cards to slow down your opponent like hammers and max potion.

News America's November Set: 'Crimson Invasion,' Two Ultra Beast Premium Collections!

Nope, that should be legal. It's a fragile strategy, since you'll probably mulligan a lot, and if your opponent knocks out your guzzlord, you get donked the majority of the time, but it will technically work.

News September's SM4 Set: 'The Awoken Hero' and 'The Transdimensional Beast'

The point is that some primape fanboy sees this card and its attack and thinks "That has potential !" Then he starts building a primape deck and loves it even though it's not meta. Most cards are specifically designed to appeal to noncompetitive players

    Discussion Standard Meta Tier List

Why would you giant water shuriken, then retreat into a Mon that needs 2 energy attached in order to do 50 to the bench, when you could switch into another ninja and snipe for 60 again while also attacking?

News Palossand-GX, Latias, Hydreigon, Regigigas, Hiker Promos!

In a deck running 20 pokemon, you're going to find ~4 pokemon on average with palossand's GX attack. And that's assuming your opponent's deck maintains a relatively normal distribution of pokemon throughout the game, which it won't, because people search out pokemon cards more often than...

Discussion The New "Safeguard" Abilities are Broken...

It can't do everything, because it can't block regular pokemon. The fact that it can block more pokemon is irrelevant to the fact that it's designed to block certain kinds of pokemon. If these new safeguard abilites are broken, then so are the old ones. Saying "The new safeguard abilities are...

Discussion The New "Safeguard" Abilities are Broken...

Yeah, that's fine. My only issue is the argument that new safeguard is more poorly designed than previous incarnations purely due to the fact that it's stronger. I personally hate all of these absolute "You cannot win unless you draw into a counter" type cards, but there are legitimate...

Discussion The New "Safeguard" Abilities are Broken...

So the new safeguard is stronger than old versions of the same thing. That doesn't make it poorly designed. That just makes it more competitively viable. Which isn't super relevant in terms of whether it's well designed. It's an ability that forces your opponent to either get around the...

Does this mean...? Could it be happening? Are they about to give us alolan Exeggutor?

Discussion The New "Safeguard" Abilities are Broken...

This thread is specifically about game design, so the actually tournament success isn't the issue here. I personally think that cards like this are kind of stupid on account of the fact that they rely on turning the game into one player sitting there spamming weak attacks while the other player...

Standard Darkrai EX/GX Deck Post Rotation

How many hands are you going to have where you have gx and an energy in your hand, and you can't just use sycamore to draw 7 instead?

    Discussion Ho-Oh-GX GX Uses (Standard)

In expanded with battle compressor, MAYBE. In standard, not only do we not have compressor, meaning it's really hard to get inceneroar or M char into the discard, we're also losing sky field, which means that incineroar is only going to be hitting for 110, which fails to get an ohko unless you...

News September's SM4 Set: 'The Awoken Hero' and 'The Transdimensional Beast'

Late game, after your raichu GX's get knocked out, you use this to grab energy back and use magnezone to dump it all immediately.

Standard Darkrai EX/GX Deck Post Rotation

Yes, you can do that. If a pokemon has an ability that activates, the pokemon needs to be on your bench or in your active, unless the ability tells you something else. Resurrection requires darkrai gx be in the discard, so you can use it while in the discard.

Discussion Tier List for 2018 Rotation

Ho-oh GX with a kiawe can one-shot basically anything starting turn 2, so you outspeed garde. Even after garde gets set up, they can OHKO you with 3 energy, but you can ohko them in return as long as you have any 2 of Volc EX/Choice Band/Kukui/Po Town, so they don't win the prize exchange THAT...

Help Fun ideas for modern day Gen 1 decks

With the release of burning shadows, you'll be able to build Ho-Oh GX as a deck, though you need tapu lele, volcanion, and turtonator for support. In expanded, you can even run charizard GX alongside it to bring back with ho-oh's gx attack. Gyarados is a pretty good deck right this moment, but...

Standard Dark Marshadow GX Deck Idea/Help

He gave absolutely no indication of which sableye, except for the fact that he's looking to build a control deck. So you can either assume: (A) He doesn't know how rotations work or (B) He's referring to the newest sableye card.

Standard Dark Marshadow GX Deck Idea/Help

There are 2 sableyes in standard.

Standard Dark Marshadow GX Deck Idea/Help

Why? If you're running a deck focused on decking out your opponent, why use Darkrai EX? He's only useful as an attacker if you turbo a bunch of energy onto your board, which doesn't seem like your goal. A deck with plumeria and flare grunts and rocket grunts and Sableye/marshadow to lock your...

    Discussion Ho-Oh-GX GX Uses (Standard)

You can't attack the same turn you Kiawe, so you're going to want to go first every game. Use kiawe during a turn where you can't attack anyways, then attack turn 2.
