I don't like Rat with this deck unless you plan to go in a different direction and make it about disruption. Rat takes up quite a bit of valuable space. your deck might be a little heavy on EX with few support for a disruption pokemon like carbink or jolteon EX.

my recommendation is that they learn to walk before they run. start off players with a relative straight forward ex deck (like maybe Mega Mewtwo). where they just attach energy. They don't have to worry about mechanics such as battle compressor (initially, its not intuitive to discard cards)...

I tried a similar deck.... but had trouble getting it to run consistently. Try a Skyla, so you can get the spirit link. I recommend a 3-3 line of tyranitar. 2 is a bit light. I've tried x2 Heavy ball for digging out the tyranitars.

the only "flaw" in the deck/strategy is that if your opponent can OHKO your pokemon. then it really doesn't matter how much you heal. inversely, Sylveon doesn't pack enough of a punch to OHKO an EX or Mega. we ran a fairy deck and tried to tech in a Sylveon... but found it was just better to go...
