Discussion What Deck would you say is the best?

Whatever deck I'm playing :) And I've seriously had so much success with Articuno/Hoopa that I'm starting to think it might be the best, if far from the most popular. (Then again there's a fairly easy counter card no one plays, but people might if it picked up in popularity...) For meta...

News Japan's First 2019 Sets: 'Night Unison,' 'Full Metal Wall'

Wow. Not without downsides - low HP likely, Lele an option for less aggressive decks, and if we're still in the shrine/spread meta it's a sitting duck, but... still wow. Seems like we got a new format-shaping staple.

Discussion Which was/is better? Shaymin EX vs. Tapu Lele GX

Although Shaymin still has a role in many exapnded decks, and is even preferred in some, Lele's definitely the stronger card, as evidenced by how counts started changing the moment the latter came out. Energy Drive is just a very strong attack (look at how much play X Ball Mewtwo and Aero Ball...

Discussion Is there any way to beat Shrine decks effectively? Does Shrine destroy the meta?

If you really wanna cheese shrine decks, there's a little card called metal frying pan... not the only way to troll them but it's definitely up there.

    Discussion What are People Playing?

Celesteela/Stakataka is really neat and is my entry for this month's tournament, but since I figured out a consistent list I've been having a lot of fun with Articuno/Hoopa as well.

Community About Age. Too Old to Play?

It's fairly common to see older players at local tournaments, a lot of pokemoms and pokedads out there who got into it because their kids were playing. They tend to be more casual players but there are some out there with serious skill.

'Dragon Majesty,' Special Set Releasing in America This Fall!

A lot of pokemon I really like in the set, but I don't know if I can justify playing any of them. Hoopa does Altaria-GX's main job better and Salamence just seems like a worse Solgaleo. (Lower discard at least, but only 200 damage hurts, as does the four energy requirement - do dragons have an...

News 'Dark Order,' Japan's October Mini-Set!

The GX seems like a bit of an emergency move, definitely good if it'll take three or four prizes (and given that you're hitting 160 or 190, that's far from out of the question) but not really something you go into games intending to use or build your deck around. You play it for the first...

'Explosive Impact,' Japan's SM8 Set; Raises Questions About Switch Release

It seems good in mill decks. Hammer away and wall the heck out of your opponent. You don't play it for its attacks, although committing an energy to force your opponent to eventually retreat or lose that pokemon isn't necessarily a bad thing.
