Treasures of Ruin Cards, New Evolution / Devolution Technical Machines Revealed from SV4!

one of the lesser talked-about things regarding OBF is that it has only 10 holo cards, making pack openings super repetitive. even if these holo rares aren't competitive, they provide some amount of variety to keep pack openings at least somewhat more interesting

Gholdengo ex and Gimmighoul Illustration Rares, Jirachi, and More from “Raging Surf!”

mewtwo vunion isn't a viable card right now. as we've seen with manaphy, although it can be hunted out into the active, having to waste a boss's orders to do that can give the jirachi player an increase in tempo. the ease of putting down a basic pokemon (that's level ball searchable) versus a...

    Gengar Line from “Raging Surf!”

what i'm liking about the scarlet and violet era is that it's clear that we're getting single prizers with distinct niches. even if this card is not competitively playable, it has something going for it that makes it unique i feel like in previous generations we had way more generic...

Deoxys, Heat Rotom, Volcanion, and More from Tera Mewtwo and Skeledirge Decks!

the obvious answer is that xatu in glc will be really solid, but i also think that it could work in standard format. particular, i could imagine it being a draw/acceleration combo engine in arctina decks. i'm def gonna try that out!

All “Path to the Peak” Episodes Released, Are Its Unreleased Cards Real?

if we have a stage 1 ex doing 70 damage we might have a new contender for worst competitive card of all time

Paradox Pokemon Cards and Return of ACE SPEC Mechanic Revealed at Worlds!

scream tail will specifically serve as a snipe attacker in gardevoir ex decks, which is something the deck doesn't have. with no bravery charm, being able to do a 160 snipe (with 4 psychic energy attached) is really good. add on a bravery charm to do a 240 snipe makes the card reach pretty...

All 33 “Ruler of the Black Flame” Secret Rares!

i'm not really crazy about the full arts, mainly because with previous full arts (like in XY era), the pokemon looked like they were in action rather than just posing. loving the illustration rares though, revavroom ex is incredible

Scovillain ex, Moonlight Hill, and Other Gym Promos Revealed for July!

scovillain ex actually looks really solid. right now, arbok ex's hand disruption has helped it get some results in japan (even if its typing is also a big factor in its viability). for scovillain ex to discard a random card + a top deck card, rather than your opponent choosing what cards to...

rigid band is a tool card dropping in 151 that lets stage 1 mons take 30 less damage from attacks

Charizard ex and Brand New Revavroom ex Revealed from “Obsidian Flames!”

i don't really see revavroom ex being viable (pretty mid attack, has an ability that isn't splashable) BUT attaching four of those +30 HP tool cards on it will be funny it also synergizes with the base set revavroom so theres still hope even if the bar is super low for this set on a...

First “Obsidian Flames” Card Images Revealed!

out of all of these cards, none of them seem to have much competitive viability at all. pawmot ex might be an OK option in miraidon decks, and toedscruel ex might be an OK addition to forretress decks, but outside of that there isn't much here. so far, tera charizard ex might be the only...

All 165 Cards from “Pokemon Card 151” Revealed: All Kanto Pokemon Reunited After 20 Years!

the main thing is that for a pokemon that already takes a lot of setup (being a fighting-type stage 2 mon and all), it doesn't really have that much immediate power. being able to build up to a lot of damage is great, but the lack of immediate damage means you're more often than not failing to...

All 165 Cards from “Pokemon Card 151” Revealed: All Kanto Pokemon Reunited After 20 Years!

kingler is probably not viable but its interesting to think about how it could work with mad water acceleration + reversal energy. 90 + discard opponent's top cars isn't too bad, and 220 with no drawback is nice on a single prizer.

    “Obsidian Flames” Prerelease Promos Revealed!

togekiss looks like a really fun card to use, but unfortunately since iono is going to be absolutely everywhere, it's hard to take advantage of an ability like precious gift when hand disruption is one of the defining parts of today and tomorrow's meta. will still probably see some niche...
