Discussion Jirachi in the new meta

I appreciate hearing the opposite side of the coin, and I can't find fault with what you are saying, but I can't say I'm convinced. The Dedenne engine is going to come out as a big winner in post-rotation, but I think it's just inherently different: Cherish Ball is going to be a huge win for...

Discussion Jirachi in the new meta

What post rotation will look like right now is anyone's guess, but Jirachi will definitely remain a strong option. Addressing your points: Not starting it: this is just math. With 1 copy in your deck you have approximately a 12% chance of drawing at least one copy in your starting hand. With 4...

Ruling Ruling Question: Can Tapu Koko GX Aero Trail move beast energy?

Sorry if this has been asked before and I'm just too dumb to find it, but can Tapu Koko GX's aero trail ability move beast energy that is attached to an ultra beast? I interpret it as yes, it triggers the switch, but then the beast energy becomes colorless, but I'm not sure. I've been able to...

Discussion unbroken bonds tier list based off of tournament results

Given the results of Santa Clara (and Sao Paulo), I'd say Weezing is probably at least Tier 2: 18th at Santa Clara and Top 8 at Sao Paulo. The deck is played often enough that it isn't a rogue deck either.

PokeBeach’s May 2019 PTCGO Tournament, Sponsored by TCGplayer.com!

Round 2 Table 58: @DorilMagefont wins over @SquirtleRules 2-0. Some matchups are just especially tough :( Gl with rest of tournament.

    Discussion Granbull??

Does anyone know why that Japanese deck list (or maybe others) cut out Magcargo? I'm a big fan of the Smooth Over -> Instruct interaction with this deck and I'm surprised that the deck performed sufficiently without it. You end up with some spare bench space (you really only need 2...

    Help Beating Baby Blacephalon

IMHO, so much this comment. The way the meta is shaping up, pretty much every competitive deck is going to run at least 1 blower to counter something. Marshadow/Judge is also really commonplace. Baby Blowns is nowhere in the Japanese meta, which people attribute to Reset Stamp, but I'm...

PokeBeach’s May 2019 PTCGO Tournament, Sponsored by TCGplayer.com!

Table 9 Round 1 @DorilMagefont (#35) wins 2-1 @Braiden1235 (#9). Sucky dead draw games for the first two. Best of luck for the rest of the tournament!

    Help Strange League Cup Pairing

Speculation: the system started with age-modified Swiss, combining Juniors and seniors together and kept this the whole way through the tournament. Per the official rules, the magic number for age-restricted pairings is 6 people per group so it makes sense that Juniors/seniors got blended...

Help Is Lost March still competitive?

But spread is not the main problem. Zapdos is the main problem. And Mew does not prevent ultra necrozma (putting damage counters is actually different from an attack). Personally I've already been running sky pillar which does the same thing as mew.

Help Is Lost March still competitive?

How? What techs can stop Zapdos and Malamar?

'Unbroken Bonds,' May's English SM10 Set!

It's basically the same issue as Tapu Lele-GX. IE. A small disadvantage, but effectively negligible, because it's highly likely you have higher priority stuff for your opponent to kill like Jirachi, etc.

    'Sky Legends' Officially Revealed!

300 HP with Lightning Weakness gets one-shot by Pikarom Full Blitz. Also harder to setup 3 different energies than Pikarom, probably requiring you to find several gimmicks (Tapu Koko Prism, Aqua Patch, new Fire Supporter cards, Rayquaza GX + energy switch, etc). RIP. Really cool artwork though.

Help Is Lost March still competitive?

Given that Lost March has bad matchups in the current meta, I'm still curious to know what people think about the Emolga version versus the Non-Emolga version. I've played mostly the Emolga version IRL and the Non-Emolga version online, and I have to say I think the Emolga version is just loads...

Help Is Lost March still competitive?

I'm not Snoopy369, and we're probably just being technical here (since I think everyone is in agreement that Lost March is highly unfavorable to Zapdos/Jirachi), but I find your counterpoints interesting, especially since I just tried to play Lost March a bunch in this meta (both physical and...

Help Is Lost March still competitive?

I started the paper TCG with Lost March, so I want to believe it's possible it'll be the dark horse winner, but Lost March just gets absolutely murdered by Zapdos/Zapdos tech. Against Straight Zapdos, your win condition is they dead draw. Against Zapdos techs (like the popular Pikarom list...

Discussion Good Competitive Standard Beginners Deck?

From easiest to hardest, the Tier 1 decks IMO: 1. Blacephalon: really straightforward. Build your bench by using search cards/discarding Fire Energy. Use Mind Blown as your main attack. Use Naganadel to grab discarded energy/can do extra damage when you have 3 Prize Cards. Use Beast Ring when...

Discussion Guarding against disruption vs finding what you need - what's the right play?

Played an interesting game today that got me thinking about this question. Suppose the situation is this: It's your first turn and you went first. You have your main attacker as the active Pokemon + an energy attached. You also have a ditto prism star on your bench. Your opponent has a jirachi...

PTCGO What's the best way to obtain cards in PTCGO?

For free to play, it's 100% trade grinding: get some tradeable packs (mostly from tournaments) -> trade them for cards -> trade those for more packs. Repeat to infinity. It's tedious, but it's way more time-efficient than playing actual tournaments is (which is sad). This is because tournaments...
