Regirock ex from “The Glory of Team Rocket” Revealed!

Um, for four Energy, I would expect this to do at least 320 to stage 2’s. We have a single prize Regi that does 330 to Tera Pokémon for four, which competes for this card’s role, as it OHKOs the most relevant stage 2 ex’s. Regigigas, however, can be played in anything with enough acceleration...

My Early Thoughts on the Post-Rotation Format

It’s been a year since JustInBasil prophesied that rotation was not enough to stop Mew VMAX, and its best results have been a couple of day 2’s at a Regional and the odd League Challenge top cut. I’m starting to wonder if JustInBasil is a false prophet.

Nighttime “Z-A Royale” Competition Revealed in New “Legends: Z-A” Trailer

"Nothing good happens after midnight. I should know. I got mugged by a taxi driver with a level 66 Krookodile." "Huh, I got mugged by that guy in XY when I hailed his taxi and didn't realize you payed when you got off. I thought he was being generous!" "I guess some things never change." If Cab...

Team Rocket’s Wobbuffet from “The Glory of Team Rocket” Revealed!

Don't forget Rocket's Spidops/e-switch! That's how you power up Rocket's Mewtwo ex in one turn (Paired with Double Rocket Energy), that's how you get the discard fodder for Mewtwo, and that's how you afford luxuries like Rocket's Wobbuffet.

“Destined Rivals” TCG Set Officially Revealed, Features Team Rocket, Misty, Ethan, and More!

So basically a spiritual successor of the dual-type Dark Tyranitar from Team Rocket Returns. It was great back in the day when it was played in a deck called Rock Lock (Which devolved the opponent's Pokémon with a TM Devo predecessor, damaged them with the Poké-Body in between turns, and then...

“Destined Rivals” TCG Set Officially Revealed, Features Team Rocket, Misty, Ethan, and More!

Also, bruh, they really made Team Rocket's Tyranitar Fighting so you couldn't power it up with two Team Rocket Energy?

Hasta La Vista, Baby — Post-Rotation Primer

Sounds like a good chance to play Jolteon ex, but I feel like you’ll struggle with Raging Bolt ex should it get a Bravery Charm onto itself.

    Standard Flame Burst (Ethan's Ho-oh ex / Ethan's Magcargo / Latias ex / Tatsugiri / Fezandipiti ex)

Ah, yes, my favotite classic legendaries, Mew, Ho-Oh, Latias and Squawkabilly. I’m going to need to try this list now. Ethan is just such a cool archetype, whether you’re playing his Typhlosion or his Magcargo. I’ve never been to a standard format event, and I usually just play retro formats...

Hasta La Vista, Baby — Post-Rotation Primer

Lycanrock? The one that does 40 plus 40 for each damage counter on the Defending Pokémon? I looked up that card and found a video with a list that paired it with Dusclops. Which was cool, because then you could do a combined total of 290 (560 if you popped a Dusknoir instead) and gain access to...

“The Glory of Team Rocket” Set Officially Revealed Featuring Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex!

Not necessarily Nidoking, but definitely a bunch of Poison types and maybe a couple of Dark types. Koffing, Arbok and Murkrow are confirmed on the pack art, and Team Rocket is also known for Pokémon like Zubat and Houndoom.

“The Glory of Team Rocket” Set Officially Revealed Featuring Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex!

Not to mention Bolt survives rotation. I'm thinking something more along the lines of a thick Rocket's Spidops line. You get three of those things into play, you can e-switch one of the Energy off of Mewtwo. If you whiff the third Rocket's Spidops and can't discard two Energy for your attack...

“The Glory of Team Rocket” Set Officially Revealed Featuring Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex!

I mean, if we get a boatload of rocket cards, that would mean more room for exploration within the Rocket archetype and more potential archetypes you could build, kind of like how we've had multiple Single Strike decks over the years (Roaring Moon, Raging Bolt, Ancient Box, and even Gouging Fire...

“The Glory of Team Rocket” Set Officially Revealed Featuring Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex!

Team Magma’s Groudon was a single prizer in 2004 with the same Ability (effectively) and the HP of a basic ex (100) instead of that of other normal Groudon (80). I guess it’s tradition. It doesn’t feel like that big of a step from Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex, but it’s a 27% imcrease from Miraidon ex...

“The Glory of Team Rocket” Set Officially Revealed Featuring Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex!

Okay, I’ve read what the item does, and ooooh boy do I feel like the opponent’s bench is constantly going to be under attack. This is going to be like the Tag Call days, but if Tag Call could grab Guzma. Also, I like that Spidops can one-shot Charizard ex or whatever the next relevant grass-weak...

“The Glory of Team Rocket” Set Officially Revealed Featuring Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex!

First to mention Guzma is back. Interesting way to archetype-lock it, but I wonder if there will be any Rocket’s Pokémon with Abilities that activate in the active.

“The Glory of Team Rocket” Set Officially Revealed Featuring Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex!

Ethan’s Typhlosion finding its way into decks it has no business in: “Hold my beer and watch this!” … yes, apparently Ethan’s Typhlosion/Gholdengo ex is a deck in Japan. Also, Lillie’s Clefairy and Steven’s Metagross still leave plenty of room for deck building creativity. But the rule usually...
