(1) Beta 'Pokemon TCG Online' Now Live; Black and White Rules In Effect [3/24]

It's cool, but really slow. Too slow for competitive play IMO.

I started doing the trainer challenge, but it quickly got boring since you only get 1 new card for winning, and all the decks suck.

I think its cool, but until the deck builder feature comes out and I can online play with friends and playtest my deck IMO it wont work

Yeah, I don't see much of a point in playing this until they let you have better decks. I did notice that the opponent uses SF cards, so I guess it isn't just HGSS-on.

I guess I will give it a try...Just because here,i dont know someone else than myself that plays the TCG... :/

It doesn't need to have all of those noises and graphics. :/

thats why they have an settings/options page ^_^

imo, i think its great.
its much faster than playing real tcg, and there is no need for judges and rulings
cant wait until they open up online play

this may be the end of the TCG for me

You think? I guess if it gets completely rolled out to where we can make our own decks and play against real people. We'll have a ranking system online. It can't be as simple as just collecting some tokens and gaining access to more cards, can it? There has to be some gimmick, otherwise it would completely destroy having a hard copy of the TCG, except for collectors.

true. i know PUSA is smarter than that.
they have a special code for the upcoming B&W theme decks
and i have a feeling they will have special codes on upcoming products for you to enter into the online site to redeem points or random cards

Since I haven't played TCG in forever, i was find of fun. I really don't care how bad the decks are, I honestly don't know the metagame anymore anyway, so the starter decks are kind of fun.

Well, you do have to have a pop idea to play at all. That eliminates 80-90% of people who buy pokemon cards. Remember elementary school? everyone had the cards. No one went to leagues.

As for competitive players, there surely will be people who drop out, but the experience of playing real people, and going to real tournaments is unique and much more enjoyable. Most players, I believe, will still go.

This also could be a way to get more people involved in Play Pokemon!. You need a pop ID to play, so that will probably bring a lot more people into leagues. People are usually nice at league, so many of them will come back.

There might be some gimmik, but I hope it's nothing too stupid. Putting codes on cards is one of the stupidest things they could do. First of all, if the codes work without expiration, people will just post the codes online. That would be cool, but they know that.

Second, if they do expire after one use, we're all screwed. What competitive players have their whole deck made of cards they alone opened from packs? Probably none. We trade, or buy online most of the time. That means most of our deck would already be expired for the deck thing.

Buying packs with tokens would be a bit of a pain too. No one wants to spend hour after hour playing with theme decks trying to get a luxchomp build from pulls alone.

I'm not sure how they'll do it, but if using gimmiks, I doubt it will turn out well.

Gosh, I hope they don't put codes on individual cards. Maybe on the packs?
I'm mostly a collector when it comes to the TCG, and I am looking to get into competitive battle both with the game and the TCG. So this will be good for people like me who have no idea what the heck they're doing and can't read the rulebook because it makes no sense. If this doesn't work out, I think I'll stick with card collecting.

im sure we can just use tokens to "unlock" the cards we need online.
we also earn more tokens by playing games
and i wont be surprised if we get codes from products to earn more tokens
not to mention the special codes on theme decks

I really enjoyed playing it and there actually was a little bit of challenge. Sure the decks aren't great but I still find it fun regardless.

Regarding the codes theory, I think the codes will be on the backs of packs and theme decks not the individual cards. I also think they will make it so you can buy decks and cards virtually.

can i ask why in the game The stormfront potions heal 30hp?

its also glitched. for me it wont let my grotle attack with 3 energy ssaying i need to attatch more even though there is no effects preventing me.
never mind that last bit i misread it was warning me i hadnt attatched an energy this turn

the new BW rules have been applied
so have all the erratas about potion now healing 3 and supporter/trainer play on first turn

This is really fun IMO. I loved the playing and it felt smoother than any simulation of the game I've every played. Once new cards open up with a bigger pool and we're able to build decks, I plan on using this extensively.

dmaster out.

This is gonna be the most awesome thing ever once the full version gets released this fall. No need for judges, play is speeded up with everything done automatically, impossible to cheat, computer knows all rulings, etc. I really hope tournaments with prizes get set up for it to too, no need to drive 200 miles to the nearest tournament.
Does anyone know if there's going to be a random opponent option? Like if you don't care who you play against, you just wanna play vs someone?

Sorry if you guys discussed this (I didn't see it). Do you think that people will stop playing cards because of this? I for one know I'm not going to switch over to the internet thing. Going to leagues and tournies is alot more fun than sitting home on a computer all day, and having no social experience. Its way too fun to drop just because of a computer program.
