A Couple of Questions

Getting back into the game after a long time (last time I played seriously was Dragon Frontiers-on and DP-on), just need a couple questions answered to help me get started.

1. Whats the best site for buying cards nowadays? Is it still troll and toad or has a better site with good prices come up? This one site used to be amazing too but I definitely forgot the name for it.

2. When is the next set rotation happening? I assume XY-On will be happening soon so I won't to avoid buying BCR cards and whatnot if they'll be irrelevant in 2 months.

3. I was playing casually with some bros a few years back online. Nothing serious but this site was made that was pretty amazing for testing decks online. You could just use any card you wanted in the format and run it against friends. Definitely wasn't the official TCG site. Any help on what that is would be awesome.

4. Lastly, whats the go to amount number for a deck? If I recall it was around 50 and 40 was too little and 60 was too much, still the case?

Thank you in advance!

Welcome back to the game! I hope PokeBeach proves useful to you. :)

1. Personally, I use eBay most of the time. There's usually someone selling the card you're looking for at a really low price. I very rarely have issues with eBay sellers, and it's fairly easy to get your money back if something does go wrong. Troll & Toad is my secondary site for buying singles online. The prices on more expensive cards can be a bit inflated, but if you're looking at the right time, you can get some good deals. Some other popular sites are Collector's Cache and Top Cut Central, but I've never used them myself.

2. There hasn't been a confirmed set rotation yet. It will likely be early September when it happens, as that's when it happened the past few years. It's also incredibly likely that it will be XY-on, but TCPi has made strange decisions in the past, so there's no way to know for sure.

3. The site you were most likely using was PlayTCG. You can make decks on Bebe's Search.com and easily play with anyone on PlayTCG. Recently another TCG simulator has gained popularity, called TCG One. I prefer using TCG One, as it has the game mechanics built into it, while in PlayTCG you have to do everything manually. TCG One is still a work in progress, but I think it has a lot of promise in the future.

4. Do you mean the number of cards to have in your deck? In the Pokemon TCG you have to have 60 cards in your deck. No more, no less. Or do you mean the price for a good deck? I'd say popular decks cost around 100 dollars these days, give or take depending on the deck.

Hope that was helpful! :D

1. Collector's cache is always the best for buying lots of individual cards. They have cheap prices but you do need an overall minimum price for your purchases. For me it was $8.95. No big deal.
2. Same as what Machamp said.
3. It could have been TCG one, not sure really
4. 60 cards to a deck, $50-$100 spent on really good decks.
Have fun! If I ever happen to battle you in a tournament, prepare to be crushed!

I'd recommend buying cards from eBay as well. Prices tend to be low and the big sellers (ones with thousands of positive reps) are extremely reliable. You can sometime get good deals from various people on Pokémon TCG groups and forums (like Pokébeach, or the Virbank City Facebook group), but if you're getting a lot of cards at once, I'd go to eBay over something like T&T in a heartbeat.
