ORAS A Discussion About Zinnia

Hi folks,
Have you done yet the Delta Episode?
If you have, how did you feel when she left the game?
Wasn't it sad?
What are your other thoughts on Zinnia?

I thought she was a little weird in the way that she talked and the things that she said, but it was a cool add on to the game and she is a neat looking character.

I wanna know more about the Aster person she apparently lost.

Also, mods, could this thread be expanded to include discussion on ORAS NPCs in general? I would like to discuss things such as the background that Professor Cozmo got in the Sea Mauville sidequest, but thought it wasn't worth a whole new thread.

I thought Aster was some kind of friend/relative of hers and after losing her, Zinnia named Whismur after her. oO

I always seem to be the odd one out in thinking Aster was her lover, but that is just me...

But I think it is rather obvious Aster was someone close to her and she named the Whismur after them

One of the things I liked about Zinnia was that her arc gave more atmosphere to the post-game.

While her goals and motives were questionable when you look back at it, she still manages to have a great impact on the remakes' plots.

I love the way they did the Delta Episode / Zinnia. Watch this video and you will understand why...

I think that the name "Aster" comes from "Astroid" which is what the Delta episode is about.
I don't mean its not after someone she lost ( I'm not familiar with the story so much) but to why Aster as a name.

I also appreciate the episode for its multiverse approach. Now I can justifiably use "legendaries" without people squawking about unfairness or unrealism.

Zinnia is my least favorite character from any Pokemon game. She acts like a suicidal maniac who would make perfect sense as a villain, yet she is portrayed as a hero after basically destroying Earth's last hope. Look at it this way. She destroys the link cable, thinking that Rayquaza will come and save Earth. She summons Rayquaza but it doesn't listen to her and is about to leave before it notices the main character and battles with him/her. If the main character wasn't involved Zinnia just ended life as we know it. Even her battle pose makes me think she is on some kind of drug. She just sways around in a odd trance with this bug eyed look, like she just drank a six pack of beer. In the 6 years of Pokemon experience I have had, I've never hated a character before. Not Ghestis, not Giovanni, not Cyrus. But Zinnia broke that. She is the first character that I hate and wish didn't exist.

I didn't really care for Zinnia much, and I felt the whole Delta Episode was interesting but could have been handled better. The entire thing is very short and mostly just consists of Zinnia showing up, being a jerk, and then leaving again. She didn't have any time to develop as a character which made the "mysteries" surrounding her anti-climatic and uninteresting.

I like that Pokémon went out of the box a bit and did a kind of sidequest thing, but I think it would have been much better if it had been lengthened and started sometimes during the main plotline to give Zinnia some time to develop and make the entire episode feel like short and less forced. Sure, save the ending until post-E4, but do more before hand.

Another reason would be because they wanted their names to start with A and Z.

I really hope they connect some dots in XZYZ...

Huh, i though i was the only one under the impression that Zinnia was loco in the coco.

I feel like she could have been an interesting character but they didn't give us enough time with her to really handle her well. Although she does have the best battle theme in all of Pokemon.

For me though, I rather liked Zinnia and she skyrocketed to the top of my list for favorites. She even helped me cope with something that was really hard on me at the time. Guess I have a thing for crazy chicks.

Yes, her methods were extreme in trying to bring in Rayquaza, but if you look at it, it does make sense. He showed up when the world was in peril before and she figured it would be the same way if she could create a need for it to return.

However, I am in the same boat that I wish the Delta Episode were longer and gave Zinnia more time to develop as a character and I certainly wish she was around longer than she actually was.
