Attention: this thread is not for creating/to come up with new abilities nor to list your favourite or less favourite ones but you can suggest known abilities to known Pokémon.
Also, it is only about the videogames, not the anime or manga.

I think the abilities "Rough Skin" and "Iron Barbs" should not only damage when the Pokémon with such ability is attacked but it should also make damage when that Pokémon uses a physical attack! It doesn't make sense to have just one way around.

Secondly, some Pokémon should have a "natural ability" (not to call them "hidden") that relates to the Pokémon itself. Pokémon with wings, that can fly and those that levitate should be imune to Ground attacks without having (or not, in the case of Ferrothron, Dustox, Hydreigon, and so on) Levitate as their ability or Flying as one of their types!
I play Pokémon since Gen. I and only in Gen VI (which I've only started playing recently) have I found that the Magnemite family can be attacked with Ground-attacks and that only "Magnet Rise" avoids this. I saw them levitating and so I tought they couldn't be attacked by those! :shy:

I kind of agree, kind of don't, on the 'natural ability' thing. This would basically give some pokemon two abilities, and immunity to ground attacks/spikes/toxic spikes, and not taking extra damage from Stealth Rock (due to not being flying) is a big deal. I understand it from a game-world logic position, but from a game-playing balance side, it's very, very iffy to me.

Well, at least it would affect both sides: us when using said advantages and when it's the enemies that use them! It might also make some Pokémon more appealing (I don't know because I'm not into competitive battling but it's an aspect that should be considered).
As for the Stealth Rock, it really is something to consider...I'll think into this and update this post!
Edit: Pokémon like Dustox and Venomoth would still be well damaged due to being "Bug", as for Mothim, Beautifly and Butterfree, they could keep their Flying type because when suggesting a "natural ability" I was thinking that Pokémon like the poison moths that end up being Bug/Poison should be imune to Ground types because they're always seen flying, without modifying the types!

This looks familiar, lol

To be fair most of the pokemon that would receive this ability are pretty bad to begin with like Dustox and Beedrill. The only ones that are usable that would gain from this are Mega Charizard X, Mega Gyarados, Magnezone, and Venomoth. It would only be problematic on Megazard, who is arguably almost OP as it is. I was thinking that all Pokemon would receive a second ability of sorts, and maybe multiple. Something like field moves would be inherent to the pokemon, so all Water types could let you surf (maybe after a certain number of gym badges). I was that current type effects/abilities/whatever (fire immune to burn, grass immune to powders, ghost immune to locking, electric immune to paralysis, ice is probably immune to freeze but I don't remember) could become part of this. Or Pokemon could just have two regular abilities.

I remember that thread but since I thought about my first note on Iron Barbs and Rough Skin, I decided to make this one in case people have other suggestions - even if apparently small - and also discussing ideas, but only pertaining abilities.
I don't mind if they're bad. I don't do competitive battling and the reason why I don't like using Dustox and Venomoth, two of my favorite Pokémon because they're based on moths and have Poison, it's because they seem like the poor and ugly brother of the butterfly Pokémon and I find it really frustrating and this increased with the animated combat sprites in B2!
I agree with you on Surf but Dive and Waterfall, that's another story! Also and still about Surf, that should not only apply to Water type but to any Pokémon that can learn th move (like Rhydon if I'm not mistaken).

Pure power should boost special attack. Its more fitting imo and we already have Huge Power which is THE SAME .
