First of all, this is not an established team that I am posting here to gloat about. I honestly have no clue if it's worth anything at all- just an idea. I'm posting this just to see what you guys think of it, and would love constructive feedback. This is my first attempt at making anything close to a real team, so please don't be too harsh
I've started battling competitively very recently (less than a week ago) and have (finally -.-) realized that my so-far-effective strategy of relying on raw power that available in the Ubers isn't really helping. So as a first, I've decided to make a Baton pass-Stall team that centers around Lugia.
Also, please note that while this team has incredibly many gaping flaws, I have made this one for a specific battle against a friend and I know for a fact that I will not be encountering any phasers.
The team-
[I realise I haven't given EVs, but most of these sets are pretty standard, so I'll probably just use the standard EVs]
Deoxys-D
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Moves:
-Spikes
-Taunt/Toxic (need help)
-Recover
-Night Shade
Could've used a faster lead, but this one's durable, and almost always gets multiple layers of Spikes. Can't really decide between Taunt and Toxic. Taunt would really help because I dont have a rapid-spinner, but Toxic allows Deoxys to inflict a status, which is loved by any stall team. His job is to ensure that entry hazards are up, and possibly prevent foes from setting theirs up or toxic them.
Ninjask
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Speed Boost
Moves:
-Protect
-Substitute
-Swords Dance
-Baton Pass
Just get as many attack and speed boosts as possible and Baton Pass. While substitute is basically to ensure his own survival, it may not be a bad idea to pass it on either.
Celebi
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Moves:
-Calm Mind
-Baton Pass
-Heal Bell/Subtitute (need help)
-HP Grass/Psychic/Toxic (need help)
Celebi is a part of my Baton Pass chain who doubles(possibly) as a cleric. While Ninjask is undoubtedly the first member of the chain, there's no fixed order between Celebi and Vaporeon. With the speed boost from Ninjask and its already great base of 100, it should be able to outspeed almost anything that's unboosted. After that, he proceeds to CM, and BP it out. Secondly, I'm not sure whether I should use him as a cleric or just let everything rely on substitutes and wish support from Vaporeon alone. For the last moveslot, I'm absolutely clueless as to what I should use and would really love some help there.
Vaporeon
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Moves:
-Acid Armor
-Baton Pass
-Wish
-Roar/Surf/Ice Beam (need help)
The next member of the BP chain. Again, uses Ninjask's speed to set up with Acid Armor. Since survival of every component is pretty essential for a BP chain, something had to have Wish. As for the last moveslot, I simply cannot decide. Surf/Ice beam gives Vaporeon an attacking move (possibly boosted by Celebi's CM), but with Vaporeon's decent special bulk and spikes suport, phasing can also help a good deal. Due to lack of experience, I simply cannot decide which would be better.
Lugia
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Moves:
-Whirlwind
-Recover
-Toxic/Substitute (need help)
-Aeroblast
The idea is to get Acid Armor's defense boosts and CM's SpD boosts onto him, elevating his already absurd defensive stats to astronomical levels. With Recover and an amazing speed, he doesn't really need to worry much about direct damage. With Ninjask's Swords Dance boost, Aeroblast can deal some deadly damage (this is 3rd gen, where flying type moves are all physical). And along with Spikes support, Lugia makes a phenomenal phaser with whirlwind. Once again, it is the last moveslot that I'm clueless about. Toxic gives Lugia a way to deal damage even if the foe resists Aeroblast. Substitute prevents foes from inflicting statuses on it. I do have a cleric, but switching into Celebi ruins the BP chain.
Mewtwo
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Moves:
-Calm Mind
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam
-Substitute/Recover (need help)
Standard CM+BoltBeam Mewtwo. This is about the only significant offensive threat in this team. In fact, if I see that the opponent's team is considerably damaged by BoltBeam, I might directly drop the BP chain on him, vastly increasing his longevity while he wreaks havoc with CM boosted BoltBeam. Lugia, like Mewtwo is definitely capable of performing even without the BP support.
That's about it. Once again, this is for 3rd Gen, so please don't suggest pokemon/moves/items that aren't available in Gen3.
Also, more imprtantly, I repeat this: I know that this team is NOWHERE near perfect. I have relied so heavily on BP only based on the confidence that I will not be facing any phasers. That said, I have no idea what kind of Pokemon I will be facing and would like to prepare for as many threats as possible. Thanks in advance!
