After a year and a half...EX: Vision!!!!

About a year and a half ago, I came up with what I thought would be a brilliant idea. Wanting to test my Photoshop skills (and do what I had wanted for four of five years) I decided on making a fake card set excompassing all known Pokémon. Stumbling upon the remains of good 'ol Nick15's infamous Pokémon Aaah!, I discovered he made blanks of types not used in the TCG (IE bug, ice). I decided to mix this with the ever popular dual-type cards. Not confident enough in my skills to make my own blanks, I contacted the one and only master of fakes, Fangking Omega. To my surprise (a well known blanker help a relative newbie? pssh as if, I thought), he was more than willing to help out.

Unfortunately, things didn't turn out as well as hoped. Shortly after the last update, my computer crashed, effectively ruining my faking career. My custom symbol sheet, customs blanks...everything, gone. Coincidently, Fang's computer contracted a virus, too, and was unable to send replacements. Left with no desire to build back what I had started, EX: Vision faded to oblivion.

However, summer boredom has kicked in, and I fully intend to get a good portion of the set done. With some time to get back in the swing of things (I tried a card...took nearly an hour, as opposed to ten-fifteen minutes in my prime), expect many more updates.

So, without further ado, I proudly present, EX: Vision!

July 17, 2006 - First new cards in a year and a half. Wow. Water, ground, and air hit in the forms of Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza.

January 30, 2005 - Rocks. In the form of Sudowoodo and Shuckle, of course. I'm finally about 10% done.

January 29, 2005 - A Johto invasion! Three out of four cards are Johtos. Diglett, Quagsire, Delibird, and Skarmory added. Whoo. I'm working on Energies right now.

January 11, 2005 - Updated list with edited Steelix and Registeel. Added the rest of the first legendary trio. Whoo.

January 3, 2005 - Happy New Year! Finally found the artist of Murkrow. Updated Murkrow, Steelix, and Registeel.

December 20, 2004 - An evil crow and a metal snake are now yours. New blanks!

December 12, 2004 - Blastoise, Bellsprout, Wooper, and a few more. I've had a few done for a while - just haven't uploaded them yet.

November 22, 2004 - No card today, but a booster. It may change, but I think it looks real enough. I'll be making 3 boosters - one with Mewtwo, another with Celebi, and another with Deoxys.

November 21, 2004 - Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been quite busy, actually. Updated with Zapdos! Got some great new blanks from Fang (including Water/Poison, Ice/Flying, Dark/Flying, Rock/Steel and more). Expect some awesome new cards soon! Added Tentacool as well.

November 13, 2004 - Added good 'ol Registeel. The Regis are now done. Bur!

November 7, 2004 - Finally found the Strata Strike Charmander art! Cross our little fire friend off the list. Added Regice as well - not as good as Regirock, but it's all good.

November 6, 2004 - Added Arcanine - power's a bit broken, but it's no cheaper than some of the EX cards. Added Lanturn - modified version of a card I entered into some contests.

October 26, 2004 - Added Regirock. Wanted to release all 3 Regi's at the same time, but Regice needs a-fixin' and Registeel's attacks aren't done yet. Still have at least 7 or 8 others that I'm tweaking.

October 16, 2004 - Added Pidgey thanks to Fang's awesome skills and generosity. Also, a few of you have either IMed or PMed me asking if I was done with the set (due to the week absence of a new card). Nope, I just got sick. Bad (with pneumonia). So I will definitely kick off Round 2 of EX: Vision!

Well, with mucho help from the Fangking, I am well-equipped to start EX: Vision. As you may have read, this is the first set of its kind. It encompasses every known type of Pokémon into card form.

Card List:
1/386 - Bulbasaur The first card I completed for the set. I tried to go in order, but that quickly failed. Fang's blanks rock, eh?
2/386 - Ivysaur I really like the art on this one; it's interesting and different.
3/386 - Venusaur Based this one off a card from one of my older sets from around 3 years ago or so, when Nick's poison blanks were new.
4/386 - Charmander Whoo! Found the art. I'm rather fond of the attack names for some reason.
5/386 - Charmeleon I'm rather fond of the attacks on this one.
6/386 - Charizard This was the first Flying card. Again, Fang did a bang-up job. Thanks, sheck.
7/386 - Squirtle Remember: all custom Energies in my set are basic, so it won't be much of a bother getting the Posion Energy onto Squirtle.
8/386 - Wartortle
9/386 - Blastoise I did this one a while ago. Dead Aim can both help andhurt you (that it - it would hurt if you were battling a Fire Pokémon - weakness wouldn't count).
10/386 - Caterpie Caterpie is a rather useless Pokémon, hence the rather useless (read: uncreative) attack.
11/386 - Metapod
12/386 - Butterfree I saw the picture and had to use it. Jade's work is fantastic. While the Power may seem odd, it fits as both butterflies and moths belong to the same order, lepidoptera.
13/386 - Weedle Same deal as with Caterpie.
14/386 - Kakuna
15/386 - Beedrill Attacks aren't the most creative, but I love WarBandit's art.
16/386 - Pidgey I love the watercolor-ish picture. Makes it seem more realistic.
17/386 - Pidgeotto
18/386 - Pigeot
19/386 - Ratatta
20/386 - Raticate
21/386 - Spearow
22/386 - Fearow

25/386 - Pikachu
26/386 - Raichu
27/386 - Sandshrew
28/386 - Sandslash
29/386 - Nidoran Female
30/386 - Nidorina
31/386 - Nidoqueen
32/386 - Nidoran Male
33/386 - Nidorino After some debate on the wording, I believe we have found a winner.

35/386 - Clefairy
36/386 - Clefable
37/386 - Vulpix
38/386 - Ninetales For the record, the last attack means 'Nine Tail Whip' in French. LINK NOT WORKING

50/386 - Diglett Ah, art courtesy of Jrvj X. Fits nicely with the Dugtrio art. Anyway, attacks are rather bland.
51/386 - Dugtrio Everyone seems to like the second attack.
52/386 - Meowth
53/386 - Persian
54/386 - Psyduck
55/386 - Golduck
56/386 - Mankey

144/386 - Articuno Awesome art. I like the style. The powers are supposed to connect the three birds together. Broken, somewhat, but they are triple star rare and legendary
145/386 - Zapdos Yeah, um...not very good attacks. But I like the art. Heh.
146/386 - Moltres I ran out of room so I couldn't fit everything on the circles. I hate that. I'm happy with the way the three birds came out.

196/386 - Espeon
197/386 - Umbreon
198/386 - Murkrow Fairly useless as a card, but you gotta have some bland one's in the mix, eh?
199/386 - Slowking
200/386 - Misdreavus Oooh...Jade's art.
201/386 - Unown

377/386 - Regirock I love that art. The second attack's effects may be used for the other trios. I dunno. Meh.
378/386 - Regice For some reason, placement was hard. I moved the attacks around quite a few times. I'm pretty satisfied with the result.
379/386 - Registeel Not much to say, really. Hope you don't do much damage, eh?
380/386 - Latias
381/386 - Latios
382/386 - Kyogre Not sure about the wording in the Body. !NEW!
383/386 - Groudon I don't know what it is about the Ground blanks, but I really like them. Maybe it's because I spent a couple hours fixing them. I know I reused existing art, but meh...I like it anyway. !NEW!
384/386 - Rayquaza I believe the first Dragon Pokémon to appear...the symbol was whiteish as first, but it was too similar (especially with the shape) to Colorless, so I changed it. It was supposed to be a little more red, as it came out too pinkish. Oh well. At least it's different. !NEW!
385/386 - Jirachi
386/386 - Deoxys

Yes, I realize some things are not correct as far as the official cards go (size, wording, etc.), but it's good enough for me, and with a set this large, don't sweat the small stuff. Think of it as my own unique style. Hey, if official stuff can change from set to set, why can't mine be any different? As long as I'm consistent...

RE: After a year and a half...

I like the venusaur, nidoking and the arcanine a lot. Those drawing are like real Pokémon Pictures. are you gonna make Herracros?

RE: After a year and a half...

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it!

I usually do Pokémon in the order in which I get great art, so if anyone out there can provide me with art, it'd be really helpful. I'd be sure to mention who I got the art from! Same goes for attacks. If you'd like to make some text fakes for me to use, I'd credit you.

The artwork is really good, and so is the actual faking.

There's only a few problems which I will comment on:
1. Not every pokemon needs to have 2 weaknesses, they only do that with Ex's as many double-weakness pokemon can be downgraded from better cards.
2. The energy is far too screwed up. You're restricting the pokemon being able to be comboed together but discarding the entire purpose of Colourless energy. Sure the new type energies look cool, but they arent practical... You're now going to have to create Energy cards for every single type (whether they're classed as basic energy or not).

Edit: Yeh forgot to add. Get new artworks for the Regis, Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza. You've simply copied/pasted them from boxes/previous artworks. New original artworks always look much better.

PLZ CHANGE UR PICTURE FOR THIS AS IT'S THE ART-WORK FOR IT IN EX: EMERALD!

The Weaknesses are basically hit-or-miss. I know there should be a pattern, but I'm too far into the set and don't have the PSD files of the cards to fix them. Some will have two weaknesses, others won't. Simple as that.

I was in the process of making Energy cards before the crash. However, they aren't really necessary considering these are fake and can't be used anyway.

I myself do not play the TCG. I collected the cards, but that was about 5 years ago. I look at EX: Vision as more of an aesthetic set, and part of the decision of the name was based upon that. Practicality in normal play, while normally considered in rating fakes, can't really be for EX: Vision. It's not trying to fit into the traditional working mode, it's stands on its own.

The artwork is just another personal aesthetic aspect. I use what art I like and what I think looks good, regardless of it being used previously. Some of the artwork would now be near impossible to change, so I'm leaving everything as-is.
