An ELO System For Ranked PTCGO

Could not find a section of PTCGO so decided to place this here, but does anyone else see interest in the introduction of an ELO system for PTCGO ranked games? I do at least, for anyone curious on what ELO is. Check out here

And if this isn't the right section for this, could someone redirect me too the correct section? I'd gladly remove this post and repost there.

I think Pokemon uses ELO for the US TCG actually until 2012. However, the downside with this system is that players could theoretically 'sit' on their ranking just by sitting out of play once you hit a 'limit' you arbitrarily choose.

For me, I don't think an ELO system is great to implement since there are veritable downsides to such a system. I'd probably think a normalised distribution like the Glicko rankings or a modified version akin to Microsoft's TrueSkill system.

The way to get around ELO sitting is introducing some kind of deterioration to the ranking. Basically, if you don't play for a week on PTCGO, then you start losing 10 points/hour, or however you want to implement it.

Even so, you could theoretically 'cheat' by playing a higher grade opponent and winning which would cancel the points you've lost. Either way, the ELO system is still flawed even if you artificially add in deterioration.
