Ancient Trait Torchic

Hello everyone! I'd like to talk about one of the more... interesting cards from PrC, AT Torchic.

Here's the card scan:

As you can see, this card can provide a lot of Draw really fast, fueling cards like Blacksmith. I believe it was also previously mentioned (I believe on PokeBeach somewhere, I could be mistaken) that it combos into FuF Blaziken extremely well - drawing for 4 on your first turn of attacking plus any other cards you may run for draw like Fiery Torch or Scorched Earth fuels Blacksmith very quickly.

So here's my question: does this card have potential to make some really cool decks, or is it something we're better off ignoring?

Edit: Probably should've said first turn of attacking to begin with, my bad.

I honestly don't know... if you move second, you can attack and discard two energy. The problem: next turn, you are likely to get KO'd. Nearly every starting Pokemon (Landorus, Manectric, Seismitoad, Yveltal Baby with Band/Yveltal, Virizion) can KO the guy.

That's definitely an issue I'm having with it - I'm thinking maybe Robo-Subs to pad out sending up Torchics to die? I run 4-1-4 with Candies, so...

With each torchic you sacrifice... you get one less guy to rare candy...

True... I'm planning on running at least 2 Camerupt EX and a tech of Trump Card to recycle the engine/resources. It may help subjugate the Torchic issue.

Each Torchic you lose is an easy prize for your opponent. Plus, Trump Card is a supporter, so it can really get in your way :/ Honestly, you should only ever play Trump Card if you have a really deck count left(like >5), or you want to gain a turn against Night March decks.

Fair point to make, but then I run into the issue of "well now I don't have a Blacksmith in hand" without having to use a VS Seeker. I feel like there is a way to make this work, I'm just not seeing it...

Don't use torchic, it's just not quite worth it. Maybe one or two (maybe maybe maybe) to discard some energy, but most of the time you'll just get N'd out of your hand and it'll be knocked out; using an ultra Ball for a pokemon you need is a much better option for a discard. Also, now that scorching earth is a thing, it makes it a little easier to use blacksmith and not a draw supporter. Basically what I'm saying is that torchic is almost there, it's just that there are already enough discard outlets to fuel blacksmith without it.

I still like the possibility of drawing 4+ cards in a turn, but I can see what you mean.
