Discussion Anti-Meta Speculation

So I'm a new player building for the 2017 Standard and want to run an anti-meta idea past people with far more experience in the TCG than I have.

What I want to do is build something that can hate on EX Pokemon and counter Trevenant (Break). If there are more threats in the current Meta let me know.

So getting onto the cards that I think would be useful to put into a deck:
2-3 Carbink (Ability: Safeguard)
2 Carbink (Break)
2 Hippowdon

2-3 Malamar (discard manipulation and drag out the Trevenant)

The 'core' of the deck looks solid enough to counter the main threats, but I don't know how it would do against any other decks. If there are suggestions about what cards to support the core with I'd like to know about them.

Building an anti-meta deck like Water Toolbox or Darkrai-EX / Giratina-EX requires knowledge of the metagame. The 2017 Standard Format was just announced and we have no idea what the meta will be like, so there's no way to know what you'd need to counter.

Trevenant BREAK will not be a thing after Trevenant XY rotates.

This isn't using anything from Steam Siege, but the thing that recycles special energy, as well as pokemon ranger and possibly ninja boy are all good potential inclusions. Misty's determination will play well with the special energy recycler too.

This list should in theory beat all the mega decks I suspect will make a big come back.

One deck I'm wishing to try out after rotation is Mega Mewtwo X, with Weavile to switch around Pokemon tools for it... But the main issue after rotation is there will not be and tool discarding trainers, so Fighting Fury Belt would deny it knock outs.
