Any tips for someone looking to start a sanctioned league

G'day all

I'm 18 years old, and lacking one at present, I'm looking to start an official pokemon league in Newcastle, Australia. I'm wondering a few things.

1. How long would my application take to process and organise?

2. Would there be enough people within my city willing to participate (population is roughly 300,000, but there are a few more regional areas closer by that might show up if they knew about it).

3. How would I go about publicising the league? My girlfriend (who would be assisting me in running it) is part of a Tae Kwon Do dojo and said a few of the kids there would be interested. How many people are required to run a good league?

Feel free to throw me any other advice with regards to staring a Pokemon league.

Thanks

1. I don't know.
2. Probably, but there's no way to tell. It all depends on how many people are interested in one.
3. They post them on go-pokemon, and maybe you could try to get a newspaper to do something on it.

Unfortunately, the POP website is currently down for some kind of maintenance, so I can't actually go and check this, but...

From what I remember of the application page, it's a pretty straightforward application, but it assumes that you have already figured out your venue and its capacity. It has a few questions on that, so you might want to get that figured out first before anything else. The venue can be pretty much anything from an apartment cafeteria to a pizza parlor to a card/hobby store with a gaming area. Just call around and see if any establishments would be interested in holding your league (or if you already have a meeting place, that's good). They can also help you with spreading the word.

League Owners can appoint up to 3 League Leaders (not sure if there are any prerequisites other than maybe being 18+ and having a POP ID) who can help with all the administrative stuff.

The league size is pretty much up to what kind of venue you want to hold your League in. Leagues in my area range from 5 players to 30-ish players.

It didn't take me very long at all ,I just showed up at a RR prerelease and they were lik: "k, youre there now, heres your pop ID"
