Ruling Archeops VS Rare Candy

Does Rare Candy go through Archeops's ability?
Meaning am I allowed to evolve a basic pokemon into a stage 2 pokemon with an Archeops on either side of the field?
I am figuring 'no' because Rare Candy states "stage 2 cards in your hand," but I just want to confirm for nationals.

"Q. Does Rare Candy override evolution-preventing effects such as Archeops' "Ancient Power" Ability?
A. Ancient Power does not allow you to use a Pokemon's attack or play a Trainer card to evolve your Benched or Active Pokemon, unless the Evolution card you would be putting into play comes from somewhere other than your hand.
