Chapter 1
It was what brought Ash Ketchum’s greatest adventure about and what made this day automatically become the worst of his life. “Okay,” he said to Brock, his traveling partner. “Let me get something straight. “We’re going the right direction, right?”
Brock stiffened, turned the map uncertainly, then looked sideways at it. “I’m honestly not sure anymore.”
“WE’VE BEEN WALKING THIS WAY FOR HOOOOURS!” Ash cried. He snatched the map. “Let me see that. Max, the Poke Nav’? Anything?”
Max, a second friend, looked up sheepishly. “I can’t find a, uh, signal.”
May, Max’s older sister commented, “You know, we met most of the legendary Pokemon that we did because Brock got the map wrong.”
Ash tried to stay calm, not look upon the fact that he was now miles away from the gym leader he was supposed to meet. May’s point was a good one and he brightened a little. Brock probably felt bad right now and, sensing this, Ash said, “Yeah, May, you’re right.”
“Let’s keep walking,” May said.
“But…where are we going?” Max asked.
“I don’t know,” Ash said.
He turned around and was face-to-face with a huge sign that had bold letters written in red paint. The words said, “KEEP OUT! BEHEEYEM ATTACK!”
“Beheeyem?” Ash asked. “What the heck is that?”
“It’s what’s has been plaguing our humble town,” a man said, coming from behind some bushes.
“What were you doing over there?” May asked.
“Hiding,” the man said, looking around suspiciously. He had a white beard and wore brown overalls, dirty jeans, and a brown cap. “You all should too.”
Ash, May, Max, and Brock crouched behind the man. “Why are the Beheeyems attacking your town? And what are they?”
“They are the Alien Pokemon.”
“Alien Pokemon?” Ash asked.
“That’s right,” a boy near them said. He looked to be about 14, with wavy brown hair and blue eyes. “I’m Darion’s son, Alex.”
“Your name is Darion?” Ash asked the man.
“That’s right,” Darion said. “The town of Cloudy Falls hasn’t been visited in a while due to continuously growing Beheeyem invasions. What brings you kids here?”
“We, um, got lost,” Ash said, glancing quickly at Brock. “But, now that we’re here, is there anything we can do.”
“Well, there is one thing that the Beheeyems need in order to go away,” Darion said.
“What’s that?” Ash asked.
“A Pikachu sacrifice,” Alex answered.
“What?” the four friends asked in unison.
“That’s right,” Darion confirmed. “Got one?”
“W-w-well, yeah,” Ash stammered. “But, I’m not willing to sacrifice him.”
“But, we are,” said two voices in unison from behind. In an instant, Pikachu was snatched off Ash’s shoulder by Team Rocket!
Ash whirled around. “Jessie?”
“James!” May cried.
“Who are they?” Alex asked.
Ash whirled to Team Rocket before saying anything. “Don’t start your motto!”
He turned to Alex and said quickly, “They’re thieves that try and steal Pokemon and they follow us everywhere and they want Pikachu, too! Don’t listen to a word they say!”
“We’ll sacrifice Pikachu for you,” James said, retracting the metal claw that had snatched Pikachu back into their Meowth balloon. “Nah. We’ll just run away with him and give him to the boss. And yes, the claw is Pika-proof!”
“You’ve got to be kidding,” Max said.
“Not kidding,” James said.
“I’ve got this,” Alex said. He took a Poke-ball from his belt. “Go, Zweilous!” he exclaimed, throwing it. What appeared to be a blue and black dragon with four legs and two heads appeared in a burst of white light as the ball opened.
Professor Oak hasn’t given me the new Pokedex yet, Ash thought, wishing he could look the cool Pokemon up.
“Flame thrower!” Alex commanded. A ball of fire was spat from the dragons mouth and, trying to avoid the flame, James dropped the claw and Pikachu.
Darion caught the claw and wrenched Pikachu free of it. “It’s the perfect sacrifice,” he said, hope gleaming madly in his eyes. “We’re free!”
He ran down the forest path, Alex following. He turned briefly. Sorry, guys. We need him. We don’t have a choice.”
“No!” Ash shouted. He, Max, May, and Brock ran after Darion and Alex.
