Writing Athena Plays Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon - Complete! FE7 Next?

Aww, come on, no suggestions the whole time I was gone? You guys have no excuse. :p New chapter tomorrow, so please suggest a reclass for us!

Let me just get in here and mess some things up then...

TGK > Bishop
Palutena > Swordmaster
Tails > Hero
Celever > Dracoknight
Keeper > Sorcerer
BB > Paladin
Vom > Sniper
Athena > Sage
PMJ > Dracoknight

Well, we're still only doing one each chapter, so do you favour anything specific? :p

Oh boy, Lord Green is a bit OP with 21 Lv... xP

As far as reclassing goes, I would suggest reclassing Silver from Swordsmaster to Paladin. We've already got one, and Paladins are one of my favourite unit... :p Moreover, since Silver has the lowest level, some extra Def, by becoming a paladin would've come in handy. Though, I'm not entirely sure if the Sk/Sp loss will be a great one...

Chapter 20x: We're back!

<Green> Well, we've spent about a week lazing about in Castle Grust. I guess we should get back to work now. Are you guys ready to pull out and do some more fighting?
<PMJ> Awwww... but it's been such a nice break. :<
<Palutena> Can't we hit the battle snooze button or something? I could use another five minutes...
<TGK> Yeah, it's been fun relaxing in the castle and not fighting for a change!
<Green> We can't just hang around here forever, guys. We still need to get the Orbs to Gotoh so he can make the Starlight spell so we can defeat IE and get the Falchion back so we can destroy DNA before he takes over the world!
<Athena> Nice plot recap!
<Green> Thank you. :3
<Tails> Eh, I guess we could go do a little battle to warm us up... I don't suppose there's a Gaiden chapter lying around that we could do?
<BV> As a matter of fact... yes, there is! My spied have received word that there's a pocket of resistance in the eastern mountains of Grust. A small group of soldiers has taken some villagers hostage. We can crush them before moving back on to the main plot.
<Everyone> Yay! \o/
<Green> Alright, you guys ready for battle?
<Silver> Would it be okay if I grabbed a horse?
<Green> Paladin Silver, eh? Sure, why not. Saddle up and we'll ride at dawn!
<Palutena> Are you sure we can't sleep in until at least, like, 8? :\

Early the next morning, to the sounds of much grumbling, the Archanean League began their trek towards the the Grustian holdout... which was located inside of a volcano for some reason. Enemy soldiers were spread out among rock embankments connected by rickety wooden bridges that spanned over large pools of lava.

<Green> Geez, what a horrible place to make your last stand.
<BB> Perhaps the enemy thought that the terrain would work against us and hinder our efforts.
<Green> Yeah, but they're hindering themselves much more, and now they're trapped while we hold the entrance. Anyway, I see a friendly-looking guy and a few chests to pilfer over in that direction.
<Keeper> Treasure chests? In a volcano? o_o;
<Vom> And they're just lying in the open...
<Green> Look, I don't understand it anymore than you do, but I'm going to pilfer them anyway. The rest of your guys head the other way while Palutena and I head out there.

And so Prince Green and Palutena headed to the northeastern corner of the map to open the randomly placed treasures while the others began the trek towards the boss. SM took the lead on one bridge while Silver held the other, and they slowly progressed forward. On the other side, Green came across a rather shaggy looking man standing guard near a cave.

<Green> Hey, 'sup? You don't look like a Grustian soldier.
<Ymir> Uh, I guess that's because I'm not. I'm trying to protect the villagers that those dirty assholes took hostage! They're hiding in the cave here.
<Green> Well, we're going to kill them all and get you guys out of here. We've cleared a path to the exit, so why don't you take the villagers out of the cave where they won't be in danger of collateral damage.
<Ymir> Excellent idea!
<Green> And, uh, you don't mind if I take these treasures, do you?
<Ymir> *shrugs* They're not mine. Take whatever you want.
<Green> Hurray! \o/

Ymir led the villagers out to safety and Green pried open the treasures chests to grab the loot inside. By the time he and Palutena met up with the others, the other two groups had rejoined together and SM had taken out most of the opposing forces. Prince Green congratulated them on their work then headed south to pry open a few more chests while Celever and Silver took down the last few enemies. Finally, the Grustians were all killed, the treasure was all looted, and the volcano cave was safely under their control.

<Ymir> Hey, thanks for helping me save all the villagers and stuff!
<Green> It was my pleasure, I assure you. Now the Grustian people can be free of their oppressors for good.
<Ymir> Why don't you let me come and fight with you? I'm pretty good with axes and stuff.
<Green> Sure, why not? We can always use some more fodder.

If you would like more info for any reclass (such as hard stat numbers), feel free to ask!

Please vote for one character to reclass and which class you would like them to change to! The option with the most votes will win and be reclassed before the fighting next chapter begins. In the event of a tie or otherwise unclear winner, priority will be given to the character with the most total votes, followed by class votes, likes, and GM preference.

Please ask if you have any questions!

Forging!

We can (and will) forge one weapon per chapter as well. Forging a weapons gives it better attacking power, and also you can give the weapon a customized name! If you have any suggestions for names or weapons to forge, you're welcome to suggest them. Unlike Reclassing, votes/suggestions for Forging will not automatically be taken, since priority will be given to those characters that need a boost (such as low Str or recently reclassed units), but your thoughts and ideas will certainly be taken into account, especially for naming purposes.

24x Gaiden Chapter Exploit? Y/N

Chapter 20x is the second-to-last Gaiden chapter available, with the final one being 24x right before endgame. However, this one requires a bit of an exploit in order to access, so I want your opinions on whether you think I should do it or not. Namely, accessing this Gaiden would require us to kill off SM temporarily. SM would have to die in Chapter 24 and then be revived with the Aum Staff in chapter 24x.

Please give your opinions on whether you believe we should (temporarily) kill off SM in order to access the Gaiden or if I should play it straight and let her survive like the other characters and skip the Gaiden requirement.

Player Notes:

Sorry for the lack of update yesterday. I planned on getting the chapter done in the afternoon, but I was struck with a bad nauseous headache. Feeling mostly better today, though headache started to creep back while writing this chapter today... *sigh*

I asked NotJim over Skype to be my tiebreaker between the two reclass suggestions and he picked Paladin Silver, so that won out. It also let me make a really horrible joke with the name of the lance I forged for him.

Silver does remarkably well as a Paladin. He keeps his Sword rank and also gains access to Lances for ranged attacking. His Movement is much higher and his HP/Def/Res got some nice boosts to make him a bit more durable. He did lose a decent chunk of his Skl/Spd stats, so he's not dodging like he used to, but the boosted defenses mean it isn't as important, and his Spd is still high enough that he can double most enemies.

Like all the other Gaiden chapters, this one was pretty small, simple, and straightforward. It also makes no sense whatsoever narratively so whatever. :U

In terms of gameplay, I tried to feed as many killed to SM as possible. She's now at a point where she doesn't have to be babied anymore, but her low HP means that I still have to be a bit careful about the damage she takes if she has a Firestone equipped. Her Divinestone gives her a much better Def/Res boost, but of course I don't want to waste it all. So, it's a juggling game.

Speaking of SM, if you didn't notice, I added a new section to the Decisions above to get opinions on whether we should use the exploit to access Gaiden 24x or not. So please give your opinion on that, and also please suggest another reclass for next chapter! <3

We're starting to head toward the endgame now, with either 5 or 6 chapters remaining depending on if we decide to do 24x or not. Regardless, playthrough will be ending sometime next week.

Voting to reclass one of the two Swordsman on the roster (Silver or Vom), although into what I'm not quite sure.

Silver is actually a Paladin now. :p You can still vote to reclass him, of course (or Vom, for that matter), just thought I'd point that out. He was just reclassed this past chapter.

Chapter 21: Continuing the path of the conqueror

<Green> Alright, so, Grust is all taken care of. What's next on our agenda?
<BV> Well, sir, we should probably begin heading to Macedon to meet up with Gotoh.
<Green> Oh, yes, yes, old guy was going to make that magic spell book for us. We'll definitely need that. Let's conquer Macedon next. Athena, you're from there, what can you tell us to help us out here?
<Athena> Well, Macedon is currently being ruled over by my brother Mora. He's... very devoted to Dolhr for reasons I do not understand. You can expect fierce opposition, especially from the Dragoons.
<Green> Hmmm... how would you propose entering in order to kill the most dudes?
<Athena> Well, uh, I guess we could attack through the south?
<Green> Excellent! Plan is made. Any comments?
<Keeper> Can I be a Sorcerer?
<Green> I.... you know what, sure, go ahead, knock your socks off. *sigh*

Keeper pranced off to grab himself some magic tomes while the others readied for battle. They took a ship across the short stretch of sea to the south eastern Macedon coast and began marching up towards the capital. It wasn't long before the enemy spotted and approached them.

<Green> Excellent... I can smell the blood of the battle already. Athena, are you sure you're okay with participating in this battle?
<Athena> As much as I may dislike the idea of killing my own countrymen, I would not have offered to join with you if I were not willing to do such a thing. Macedon, and my brother in particular, are in the wrong. It is perhaps the best kind of justice for another Macedonian to set them straight.
<Green> Even if it means killing your brother?
<Athena> I love him enough, even still, to want to grant him death at my own hands instead of a strangers. Let me have the honour of cutting him down.
<Green> O... kay then. Sure, we'll save him for you. Everyone, attack!

The Macedon soldiers were very strong and aggressive. They quickly moved against the Archanean League and tried to hold them back, but Prince Green's forces managed to overcome the first wave and continue their press north. Mostly, anyway, Lorenz attempted to tank one Paladin too many and eventually died the death of one thousand cuts.

<Lorenz> Such is... my fate... x_x;

A second wave of enemies followed, and a third, but the Archanean League fought bravely and advanced. Even a final waves of reinforcements was no match for their might, and PMJ and Silver teamed up to take down the boss holding down the local fort. Finally, the enemies were dead. Athena flew off to visit a local secret shop while Green took control of the fort.

<Gotoh> Psst, hey, Princey, you here yet?
<Green> Oh, hey, look, it's the magical projection of Gotoh that's totally not a ghost. 'Sup, dude?
<Gotoh> Oh, you know, just chilling out in Macedon. Great to see you've finally made it. Did you get those spheres?
<Green> Oh, yeah, the Lightsphere, the Starsphere and also this weird... Geosphere?
<Gotoh> Oh, you don't have to worry about that one, but I'm glad you've got the other two.
<Green> Where are you at?
<Gotoh> I'm chilling out in a small village near the Macedon Aerie, which is their capital castle.
<Green> Oh, sweet! We were planning on heading there anyway to kill Mora and conquer the country and all. I'll swing by to drop off the spheres for you.
<Gotoh> Excellent! I also have some other good news for you.
<Green> Oh? :O
<Gotoh> I've received word that you sister Elice is doing just fine.
<Green> :D! Where is she?
<Gotoh> She's hanging out in Thabes with IE. I think he's got a crush on her or something. You'll probably want to head there ASAP once you're done with Macedon.
<Green> Don't worry, it's on the list. Anyway, I guess we'll see you soon.
<Gotoh> Take care! <3

Playing the chapter would let us recruit Nagi, another Divine Dragon. Not playing the chapter would let us recruit Gotoh. The characters are mutually exclusive based on whether you get the Gaiden or not, so we couldn't get both.

Please give your opinions on whether you believe we should (temporarily) kill off SM in order to access the Gaiden or if I should play it straight and let her survive like the other characters and skip the Gaiden requirement.

Player Notes:

And so we enter Macedon and begin the push to endgame. Enemies are finally getting decently strong now (at least most of them), but they're still not too much of a threat. The biggest challenge this chapter was that they tended to aggro in large groups and were primarily in high-Def classes (Generals, Paladins, Dracoknights), and so anyone not named PMJ, Celever, Green, Palutena, or SM had to rely on crits to get a ORKO. Because of the large groups, exp was pretty evenly spread out this chapter too, since everyone had to participate or risk letting the more fragile characters get ganged up next EP.

Since there were no firm suggestions for reclasses (and NotJim wasn't home from work yet so I couldn't bug him to make one), I ended up taking the other suggestion from yesterday. Keeper is laughably horrible as a Sorcerer. He has a whopping 2 in Mag and the Skl/Spd losses hurt him really badly. He couldn't double anything but the weakest unpromoted enemies, and even with a 12mt forged Fire tome, he wasn't dealing anything but the most minor of chip damage. However, he did manage to somehow land 2 separate 4% crits, so he still got a few kills in.

I actually did try to kill of Ymir this chapter, but the man is a freaking dodgetank. I thought about letting the boss kill him, but it would have taken me at least an extra 3 rounds to get him in boss range so I just decided to screw it and hold off on killing him until next chapter.

The secret shop that Athena visits is one of the best in the game; it lets us buy 3 of each of various stat boosters for Str, Mag, Skl, Spd, and Lck. I'll be passing those out like candy next chapter. Energy Drops will probably go one each to our 3 weakest Str-based units, with the Magic Dust getting split between Celever and PMJ. Speedwings to TGK, Athena, and Keeper; Secret Books to Marth, Athena, and Keeper, and Goddess Icons to... I dunno, whoever is most Lck-scewed I guess. Chapter 24 will be the next batch of stat-boosters for Def, Res, HP, and Arms Scrolls for a last minute weapon rank boost.

Anyway, that's about all for now. :) Please suggest reclasses for next chapter and give your opinion on whether we should play 24x or not!

Hmmm... Since some units have to get experience, I would suggest playing the Gaiden. SM can also return back, so we can only "win" by playing it. Weak units (Keeper needs to change...) should raise their experience in order to prepare for the last battle. Also, it's good to have many horse units to exploit their resistance.

I'm unsure if this forging name has being used before... For a sword (my back up ones), let's call it Elucidator. :) It's a reference I believe hardly anyone can get... Lastly, when do you think the Endgame will come?

Anyway, the chapters are good and fun, like always :)

Keeper needs to go Horseman.
(Keeper needs to change...)
I have all the votes against this.

Laughably horrible you say? Good! I love being laughable.
And I still sound like a beast character, no denying that.

Hmmm... If your choice is to become a sorcerer then I'm fine with it. :) It's your character after all.

Chapter 22: In which Athena kills Mora, but it's totally not personal

<Green> Alright, so, we've made our way to the Macedon Aerie and.... &*^&*(%# that is a huge castle. Athena, any advice.
<Athena> Well, we're approaching from the south, so we'll have to go around to the north before we can enter. There's a choke point there that we can use to hold his forces back, but we'll have to get there first. Mora's probably going to send the Dragoons to fly out and meet us as soon as possible, so we'll have to fight our way in.
<BV> My sources tell me that the village Gotoh is hiding in is to the northeast of the aerie.
<Green> Alright, good. I don't want to split us up, so I want everyone to come together with me and head east around the aerie. I'll visit the village, jabber with Gotoh, get the book, and then we can storm the castle and kill everyone. Sound good?
<Athena> Just remember your promise to me about killing my brother.
<Green> Yeah, sure, he's all yours.
<Keeper> Can I take my horse back?
<Green> Yes, please do. Anything else? No? Alright, let's go!

Meanwhile, up in the village....

<Mora> Hey Gotoh, your precious Archanean League has finally arrived.
<Gotoh> Yes, yes, I'm quite aware. Magic, you know.
<Mora> Look, you should probably get out of here before the fighting starts. I don't want to see you get hurt.
<Gotoh> Pfft, you know damn well that I can take care of myself. Besides, you really ought to just give into them.
<Mora> ...
<Gotoh> Srsly now. You know as well as I do that if you had teamed up with Athena instead of fighting with her that Macedon would be in a better situation. Instead, you let IE manipulate you into destroying both your family and your kingdom. Surrender your dignity and give in to Prince Green.
<Mora> No one can undo the past, nor predict the future. Macedon is still strong and so am I. I can win this.
<Gotoh> And if you do?
<Mora> *shrug* We'll worry about that when the time comes. For now, all my focus is on destroying that stupid girly prince who dares to invade MY kingdom.
<Gotoh> And Athena?
<Mora> Whatever happens, she'll have to live with the guilt of abandoning her family and her kingdom on her own. It's nothing to me.
<Gotoh> You poor fool. Go fight your pointless battles and leave this old man in peace.
<Mora> *flies off*

Prince Green and the Archanean League were finally ready for battle. They shouldered their weapons and began the long trek around the eastern side of the aerie. Sure enough, just as Athena predicted, Macedon's Dragoons soon began streaming out of the castle in great numbers, followed by Paladins and Horsemen. The various bow users of the League quickly took care of the flying units while Marth and the others pressed forward slowly but surely, whittling them down.

Finally, Green made it to the village where Gotoh had been hiding out in waiting.

<Green> Hey Gotoh, sup?
<Gotoh> Prince Green, my boy! Wonderful to see you.
<Green> Here's the spheres you wanted me to bring.
<Gotoh> Yes, yes, perfect... now close your eyes and count to three. And no peeking!
<Green> 1... 2... 3...
<Gotoh> Here you go! *hands over the Starlight tome*
<Green> Sweet! How did you do that?
<Gotoh> Magic, my dear boy. Now, take this and go beat the crap out of IE.
<Green> Will do!

Around the bend and then the League had almost reached the steps of the castle. Ymir was a bit too eager and ran up before he had any support, and a few Dracoknights teamed up together and took him down.

<Ymir> You'll never... get the best of... me.... x_x;;;

The remaining members of the Archanean League stood together and began to slowly push their way up the steps. Before they could reach the gate, they had to pass through an inner courtyard where wave after wave of enemy reinforcements spawned to attack, the League held firm. Finally, there were no more reinforcements and Athena flew forward to take care of her brother.

<Mora> Athena, I had a feeling you'd come back. Here to add fratricide to your list of crimes?
<Athena> You're a sick dog, Mora, carrying more about power than about our people. And when you put down a rapid dog, it's a kindness, not murder.

With a single swipe of her axe, Princess Athena slew her brother with a sigh, then stepped back to let Prince Green take control of the castle in the name of the Archanean League.

<Athena> Farewell, Mora... my your soul rest in a better place, free from IE's grasp at last.

Sorry, Mora. <3

As much as I appreciate and enjoy the discussion about which characters that you don't want to see reclassed, Keeper reclassing into Horseman was still the only valid reclass option suggested for this chapter, so that's what we went with. You're always welcome to talk about things like that in this thread, just keep in mind that complete, valid reclass suggestions are the only thing that actually matters when it comes to who I reclass when the time comes. :p

This was a nice chapter to milk for EXP. Lots of reinforcements in that center courtyard and they're all promoted classes, too; 3 Dracos, a Pally, a Sage, and a Horseman each time. They spawn every turn from 7-13 or so in the exact same spot, too, so it's very easy to spread out into optimal places for everyone to get easy kills.

Otherwise, a very easy chapter, despite the large waves of enemies. The Dracos all go down fairly easily to bows and magic alike, and Palutena's Wing Spear and Marth's Rapier are best against the Paladins. Other classes got in kills where they could, too, with a focus on giving kills to Silver who was the lower level of everyone.

In terms of timing, there are only 3-4 chapters, depending on if we do the gaiden or not: 23, 24, 24x, and Endgame. With one chapter each weekday, you can expect the playthrough to be completely finished by Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

Speaking of the Gaiden, we've gotten 1 vote so far to do it and no votes to the contrary. Still plenty of time to speak up on whether you'd like to see it or not, so please vote, and also suggest some reclasses for next time, too. <3

Chapter 23: Too Many Ice Espeons

With Macedon firmly under Archanean control, the League was able to take a little breather. Prince Green welcomed Gotoh into the castle and they began to plan their next moves.

<Green> Well, I gave Starlight to PMJ. She's our strongest mage, so I think she has the best chance of taking out IE. Do you know where he is?
<Gotoh> Yes, indeed. IE has holed himself up in the ancient city of Thabes.
<Green> Thabes? Where is that?
<Gotoh> Far to the north of Khadein, keep in the desert.
<BV> Rumours of the city have attracted treasure hunters from around the globe, but none who have left to find it have ever returned. They say strong, forbidden magic rules the land and increases Gharnef's power.
<Green> Ugh, a long walk through the dessert to a place people don't return from and an extra-powerful IE to fight. *sigh*
<Gotoh> Well, I believe I can help you out with at least one of those issues....
<Green> Oh?

With a flash, Prince Green and the rest of the Archanean League were immediately teleported away from the Macedonian Castle to the ancient city of Thabes. The city itself was long deserted, the only signs of recent activity visible in the large temple at its heart.

<Green> Alright men. Oh, and ladies too. We're about to face down IE. Are we ready?
<TGK> Ummm... would it be okay if I went back and grabbed my bow? You know, for comfort? >.>
<Green> Sure, that's fine. PMJ, you have Starlight?
<PMJ> Yep!
<Green> Everyone else, take care of PMJ and make sure to keep watch for other minions of IE. He very likely won't be along. Let's go!

With a bang, the Archanean League kicked open the doors of the temple and raided in, ready for battle.

<IE> Ehehehehehehe, you finally come to visit me, little prince. And you've brought your whole army as a housewarming gift; delicious! I've been waiting for you. :3
<Green> Waiting? o_o;
<IE> Oh, yes, I've been very amused, watching you scurry around the continent, eliminating my competition. It was very kind of you to kill both Camo and Mora for me, by the way.
<Green> :| :| :|
<IE> And now you can perform one, final favour for me and die!
<Green> Yeah, well, um, you'll die first you sticking hobo! >:|
<IE> Bwahahahahaha, if you want to challenge me, you'll have to find me first!
<Green> Wait, what? You're right--
<BV> Sire! There's sorcerers all over the temple. And they all appear to be... IE!
<IE> Yes, indeed. Wear yourself out fighting my puppets. :3 But if you want to claim Falchion, you'll have to defeat the true me! *dissipates into mist*
<Green> Alright guys, uh, we got this. Trust me. >_> Just find and kill all the Gharnefs while I go look for treasure *flees*
<Everyone> :|

Sure enough, there were chests for Prince Green to open, conveniently located in the opposite direction of the actual fighting. While he ran off to collect the loot, the rest of his army moved forward in preparation of finding IE. There were indeed multiple IEs around the place, and other fighters as well. PMJ took Silver, Athena, and Palutena with her to investigate the first "IE" they saw in an alcove on the front floor while the others began clearing the way forward. She managed to defeat this first IE, but...

<PMJ> This isn't the Falchion! It's just a dumb, boring Steel Sword. :\
<Palutena> He must be one of the fakes then. Oh well, let's catch up to the others.
<Celever> Hold on, I've got an idea! *runs over*
<PMJ> *holds on*
<Celever> You move so slowly that the rest of the army is already almost at the second IE. Here, let me Warp you over to catch up.
<PMJ> Gee, thanks! :D

In a flash, PMJ was warped up to the top part of the tower. She meant to unequip the Starlight tome until she lured IE closer (for fear of wasting even more of its precious uses), but in her hurry, she forgot. It all ended up working out just fine, however, since the second IE was the real one!

<IE> Ehehehehehehehe, you really think you can defeat the power of Imhullu, wench?
<PMJ> Yes, I do. :3 *magic!*
<IE> Arrrrgh, nooooo! Where did you get... Starlight...
<PMJ> Oh, I found it lying around somewhere.
<IE> Still, you are a fool if you think you can defeat Medeus... none of you has nearby enough power... I shall see you join me in the pits of hell...
<PMJ> Yeah, well, I've had enough of you rambling. *more magic!*
<IE> Urk! x_x;
<PMJ> *yoinks Falchion*

With the true IE defeated at last, the Archanean League rushed the remaining enemy soldiers. Silver took out the boss while Vom handled the last fake IE. Then they all sat around and waited for Prince Green to finally make his way up to the top floor and claim the throne.

<Green> Finally, IE is gone for good, and we have the Falchion, too. Any word on my sister?
<BV> Ah, yes, sire. My sources have located her up in the tower and she's on her way down as we speak.
<Elice> Brother! :D
<Green> Elice! :D
<Elice> My, my, aren't you all grown up and winning battles now, so cute. <3 What level are you up to now?
<Green> 22!
<Elice> Whoa, nice!
<Green> So, uh, it's good to see you and all alive, really. I thought that IE would probably just kill you.
<Elice> He probably would have except that he happened to figure out where the Staff of Aum.
<Green> Staff of Um? What's that? o_o;
<Elice> Aum. It's a resurrection staff that can bring back the dead.
<Green> Ohman, that's crazy OP.
<Elice> I know, right? But, yeah, you have to be a royal female cleric in order to wield it, so he kept me alive for that purpose. I guess he was going to resurrect some old friends of his or something, idk.
<Green> So, do you have it? We've got a whole lot of dead people that could--
<Elice> Sadly, no. IE figured out where it was but didn't actually get it yet. I dunno why; I'm just the plot messenger.
<Green> So, uh, where is it then? Do we get to go on a quest to find it?
<Elice> It's at a place called the Ressurectory in Dolhr.
<Green> Sweet! We were headed there anyway to kick DNA's ass. We'll stop by and grab the Um Staff on our way.

Since the decision will impact how I play the next chapter, this is your last chance to give your opinion.

Player Notes:

So, yeah, the gimmick of this chapter is that there's 3 different IEs and you don't know which one is real. The real one can only be damaged by Starlight and will drop the Falchion; the others can be damaged by anything and just drop a Steel Sword. All of them wield Imhullu, which is a pretty strong magic attack of its own, and all 3 of the IEs move. It's not even something you can look up in a guide, since it's randomized.

Funnily enough, the first time I played this chapter the "real" one was the one right at the very beginning. I kind of hoped that that would happen again this time because it would be hilarious, but no, this time it was the second. PMJ got a level from each defeated IE, rocking her up to the top of the charts in terms of levels.

Really, though, it's a pretty easy chapter. Not many other enemies, though lots of siege tomes and they all kept going after Tails for some reason. >.< Mostly you just have to be careful of the IE's because they move and wield a pretty strong spell.

Also, yes, there really are chests that require you to specifically go away from the fighting and it took Marth a few rounds after everyone was dead to catch up. I found this hilarious.

Anyway, as a reminder: this is your last chance to vote yes or no for Gaiden 24x. Details above. If we play it, we get a bit more leveling and we recruit Nagi, another Divine Dragon, but we have to kill off SM in C24 and use the Aum Staff to revive her. If we don't do it, we play mostly as normal and instead we recruit Gotoh. Either way, the extra character is getting killed off in Endgame. :U Please vote!

Also, please suggest some more reclasses as well! Only a couple more chapters left to go. :3

You're actually a pretty good Sniper, for what it's worth. A rank Bows is very handy and you gained a lot of Def from your time as a Pally, so you're nice and bulky.

Chapter 24: Prince Green hatches a weird plan

With IE slain and the Falchion in hand, Prince Green now finally had the power to strike down the evil dragon DNA and save the world from his tyranny. Unfortunately, they were stuck in the middle of a deserted city so far north of civilization that it would take weeks of endless marching over dry, inhospitable terrain before they'd be able to strike at him.

<Green> Uh, Gotoh? Little help here?
<Gotoh> Oh, fine, I'll teleport you back again.
<Green> Thank you~ <3

Thanks to his powerful Warp magic, Gotoh was able to quickly and easily teleport all of them from the ancient city of Thabes to the middle of Dolhr, right outside DNA's fortress.

<Gotoh> Good luck! *teleports away*
<Green> Okay, jeez, well, uh, I hope everyone's ready for battle, because it looks like battle is ready for us.
<TGK> Eeep! Can I have my horse back?
<Green> Sure, go for it, kid.
<Green> Alright, now, we have a few objectives in this battle, so listen up everyone. Our main objective is to kill the crap out of everything. Our secondary objective is to get to that weird looking temple thing down in the south and raid it. The Um Staff is in there, and it's super totes important. Since we killed off our thieves, I'll be part of the force that takes care of that. The 3rd and most important objective is to take over the entrance to the fortress but DON'T kill the boss until I get there, okay?
<Palutena> Why not? o.o;
<Green> We're going to do something a bit different when we kill the boss this time. I'll explain more later. For right now, just leave him alone until I catch up. Oh, and SM needs to be there, too.
<SM> Sure, no problem. ^_^
<Green> Alright everyone, let's go!

The Archanean League split up into 3 main groups. Green, Silver, TGK, and Tails rushed ahead and followed the southeastern route to get to the temple and the staff as soon as possible. Celever, PMJ, Keeper, Vom, BB, and SM were a bit slower and took the northern route towards the castle. Athena and Palutena kind of flew around and did whatever, including stopping at another secret shop to the southwest.

Just as Green was breaking open a chest to get the holy staff, reinforcements started to pour in. Many of the enemies were Manaketes and difficult to kill. This fractured the groups even further as people split up to take down the various reinforcements. However, Prince Green kept his eyes on the prize and began to make his way towards the fortress where SM was waiting for him.

<Green> Alright, so, SM you have a very important job to take care of with this boss.
<SM> You want me to kill him for you? My Divinestone is very good at--
<Green> No, no, no killing. In fact, I want you to give me your Divinestone, and your Firestone, too. Also, here, take Falchion.
<SM> But... if I don't have a dragonstone, I won't be able to fight... I can't use this sword. :\
<Green> I know. I want you to die.
<SM> What?! D: Don't you love me anymore? ;~;
<Green> Look, I know how it sounds, but you need to trust me on this one. We'll bring you back as soon as possible. But it's important that you die now, here. I have a plan.
<SM> Alright... if that's what you really want... ._.;;

SM, with Falchion in hand, bravely walked up to the Mage Dragon boss standing guard over the entrance to the castle. Unable to transform into her stronger form, she stood still with her eyes clenched shut until the Mage Dragon's fire consumed her.

<SM> Prince Green... please... I'm trusting you... x_x;;;

Green carefully gathered up SM's body and motioned Silver forward to take the boss kill. Then, the gates were captured and the battle over. It wasn't long before Gotoh showed up.

<Gotoh> Prince Green... I'm afraid I have some bad news.
<Green> Oh? What is it?
<Gotoh> With the death of SM and the loss of Falchion, I'm afraid you don't have the power to defeat DNA on your own.
<Green> Oh, darn, what a bummer... *whistles innocently*
<Gotoh> Thankfully for your sorry ass, I have a Deus Ex Machina back-up plan. I'm going to send you and your men to a, uh, let's call it an "alternate dimension". You'll be able to recruit another Divine Dragon and grab another Falchion there.
<Green> Sweet!
<Gotoh> Let your soldiers rest and then come find me when you're ready. *disappears*
<Palutena> Oh, was this your master plan smart guy? Kill off SM so we can recruit a second dragon and get a second divine sword too?
<Green> Relax, okay? Yes, it's a bit of an exploit, but it'll buy us some extra time AND another powerful fighter to help take down DNA, since we can use all the help we can get. As soon as Gotoh teleports us to this other dimension, we'll use the Aum Staff to revive SM, grab this other dragon chick, and then we'll be good to go. Nothing could go wrong!
<SM> x_x;

Player Notes:

Poor SM. :(

A pretty easy chapter, despite all the Manakete enemies. SM, Green, and PMJ one-shot them, and the others either one-rounded or teamed up. Even Vom was able to get a few kills in with a Wyrmslayer. The non-Manakete enemies were pretty trivial.

The 24x exploit works as follows: the game checks for 2 things: Tiki (SM) being a living party member and the Falchion being present in inventory. If neither of those conditions are met, you get sent to 24x.

SM being dead is fairly straightforward; she just has to die sometime before the level ends. You can kill her at any point during the game, or even just kill her as a boss and not recruit her at all. Since we're using SM, I decided to let her stay alive as long as possible and only die against the boss. The Falchion not being in inventory is a bit trickier. You technically don't have to kill IE/Gharnef in order to beat C23 (in fact, it's impossible to do so if you don't collect both orbs which is not guaranteed), so if you're a crappy or new player you might not get it naturally anyway.

However, there's also an exploit that you can use regarding how the game handled the items of dead players. When a character dies, their items get sent to the convoy, but this doesn't actually happen until the very beginning of the next chapter. Since the 24x check happens at the end of C24, if a character dies while holding the Falchion during C24, the game will think you do not have it. Then, when you start up 24x, the Falchion will be right there in your inventory.

So, it's a pretty simple matter to trick the game and Gotoh into letting you access 24x, just kill off Tiki/SM during C24 while holding the Falchion. Once 24x starts, you get the Falchion back and you can resurrect Tiki/SM using the Aum Staff.

You actually do get another Falchion during the course of 24x, but it's a weaker version. The Falchion that drops from killing Gharnef/IE is 12 might whereas the one you get from Nagi in 24x is only 7 might. That's quite a significant difference.

Next chapter will be 24x and our final unit recap. Endgame will fall on Wednesday. Hope you all enjoy. :) And, of course, feel free to suggest some final reclasses now that we're getting close to the end. :p

The endgame will come soon... ;_;

Anyway, that was a decent trick! So, the "reborn version" Tiki isn't from a different dimension, just the second Divine Dragon?
Nah, I wouldn't suggest any reclass since I'm positive we're all in the best class we can be. However, if you feel a reclass should be made in order to have the best chance against DNA, then I wouldn't mind.
