Back After 12 years, Venusaur Deck Viable?

Hey guys,

I've pretty much posted the same question on Pokegym but wanted to get as much advice as possible.

So, just started playing the online TCG after having played the original game maybe 12 years ago! Basically I have a huge bias towards Venusaur and have managed, by trading, to get four of them(the newest Venusaur from dark explorers).

My question to you guys is how can I make a viable deck using him? I know he's not the greatest but I'm nostalgic and I'll only be playing friends. From advice from the guys at Pokegym I have managed to get 3 x Shelmet/Accelgor but I might need to 1 more of each. My initial thought was to have a grass only deck but is that doable?

Any help would be appreciated :D
 
The only deck I've seen that used Venusaur was basically a Gothitelle/Accelgor/Darkrai deck and that was before Boundaries Crossed came out.

It wasn't even really viable before (nothing more than a fun League deck IMO), and it's probably even clunkier and worse now with a card like Keldeo EX that can get around Status Conditions. Other than that, I can't think of anything else. :/

The only option I have ever seen for that Venasaur as Dmaster said was an Accelgor deck. I would run the pokemon something like this.

3-1-3 Venasaur
3-3 Accelgor
2 Mew EX
2 Mewtwo EX

The stradegy would be to use Accelgor's deck and cover attack and use Venasaur to serach him back out after he uses it. Mew EX would be use the same attack. Mewtwo EX abuses the 4 DCE used in the deck and can be a late heavy hitter.

That is my only idea for a viable deck including Venasaur. Hope I Helped! :)
