Hey guys, Well it has to be at least 5-6 years since I last play Pokemon TCG. I just found out that a local shop (The Grid in Manchester, CT) plays Pokemon TCG, and this got me really excited and wanting to play again. Of course I have to do some catching up on the up to date rules and find out what has changed.

Also need to figure out what deck I want to run. Gengar happens to be one of my favorite Pokemon, and I'm seeing a few builds out there but not sure what is the better contender and most consistent?

Any and all help would be great!!

Thank you

Gengar is one of the top decks in format, but most refer it as Cursegar. Reason being is because in Arceus, there is a Gengar with the "Curse" Poke Power. Thanks to that Gengar, the SF Gengar, and Gengar Lv.X, it has become a very popular deck. The way it works to is to use Spiritomb AR to T1 Trainer lock both you and your opponent as you slowly setup a Cursegar with three energy on it. Once that is done and you've played Moonlight Stadium, you can now attack with Gengar's Shadow Skip, doing 60 damage and 10 to the bench. The better part is how you can switch Gengar after the attack, giving you the option to bring up another Spiritomb to lock Trainers, Mr. Mime from MT to lock low-energy users (coughGYARADOScough) or any other lock tech you run. With Curse and Gengar Lv.X, you can spread damage and disrupt your opponent's Lv.X's.

Thank you for your time and your response. Very useful! I'm gonna do some research and see what builds I find to use, kind of like a building stone. If you happen to know any builds that would be great. The hardest part will be to know which card is from which set.

Thanks again:D

Ampharos locks your powers too, which might be counterproductive sometimes(as you cant use fainting spell)
