I'm wanting to get back into the game after a long break and join a local league but i am unsure on what to play as the meta has changed so much, i would like to make a budget deck that can be upgraded when i have more money as i only have about £40 and some other cards my friend gave me.

RE: Getting back into the game need help choosing and making a deck

Hey, welcome back to TCG!
I recommend a Medicham build using the one from Primal Clash.

Here is the main core I would use
4-4 Medicham Primal Clash
3 Hawlucha Furious Fists

4 Shauna
4 Sycamore
2 VS Seeker
2 Prof Birch Observations
3 Fighting Stadium
3 Silver Bangle
2 Switch
Cheap ACE Spec (Rock Guard/ Life Dew/ Master Ball)

4 Strong Energy
6 Fighting

When you get more money you can also add Landorus EX and Lucario EX

Thanks man,
would any of these cards come in handy for the deck?

1 teammates
2 pokemon fan club
1 lysandre
2 Pokemon Catchers
1 Evosoda
1 Trevor
3 Professor Sycamore
3 Tierno
2 Ultra Ball
2 Muscle Band
4 Professors Letter

Out of those I would use
1 Teammates
1 Lysandre
1 Evosoda
3 Sycamore
2 Muscle Band
1 Prof Letter
I also forgot to add
3 Korrina

I might suggest Night March over Medicham--it's proven successful at tournaments and is dirt cheap considering its main attackers are commons. I'm not comfortable with the deck myself so I can't provide a list, but there are plenty online to base yours off of.

Night March is another good option. I want to see the results from the Florida regionals before counting out Medicham.

I'm gonna throw Aromatisse/Faeries out there if you can find the proper preconstructed decks.

I wouldn't count Fairies as a budget deck as its key players outside of Aromatisse and Xerneas are all fairly expensive. Medicham and Night March are good choices, though.

You can find a skeleton list here:

I personally prefer Mew EX over the eevee variant, and it is slightly cheaper (leafeons and flareons are surprisingly expensive).
