Strategy: This deck is built to use Entei's Howl to charge up Charizard. When I play Entei, Howl lets me discard the top 5 cards of my deck. I can attach any Fire Energy that I discard via Howl to one of my Fire pokemon. So the idea is to keep Charizard swinging. Gold Berry and Ecogym work toward that goal; the Berry lets Charizard act like a tank, while Ecogym counteracts Energy Removal and Super Energy Removal. The Traders, Search, Bill and Professors are all there to help draw through my deck.

The format I've built this deck for is Base Set-Neo Revelation, which is the format my old League used before it closed down. :( But some friends of mine from back then have gotten their decks and we're going to run some fun games. :D I can tell you that I expect to see:

Sponge: Used Movie Promo Mewtwo and Rocket's Zapdos to simultaneously attack and get Energy from the grave for their attacks. Naturally these pokes worked well with Oak, Computer Search, and any Trainer that forced a Discard.

Sneasel: Sponge with Sneasel splashed in. Neo Genesis Sneasel, of Beat Down infamy.

SneaselKing: A combination of Sneasel, Neo Genesis Slowking for Trainer lockdown, and Trainer disruption.

Haymaker: One of the more dated decks I'll be playing; it uses Big Basic Pokemon from the day with Fossil Aerodactyl's Prehistoric Power to block evolutions.

VenuCenter: A fun looking deck that uses Base Set Venusaur's Energy Trans ability to shuffle Grass Energy around Jungle Scyther and Rocket's Scyther (from Gym Heroes), healing with Pokemon Center and returning the energy to either Scyther,

That said, there's a few cards that I've been mulling over:

Neo Genesis Magby: Sputter shuts down PokePowers until the end of my next turn (After using Sputter). Very good vs Dactyl and Slowking.

Gym Heroes Erika's Dratini: The PokePower Strange Barrier states that when an attack does 20 or more damage to Erika's Dratini, that damage is reduced to 10. So this little dragon is a 4-turn stall vs things like Sneasel, Rocket's Zapdos or Scythers/Movie Promo Mewtwo.

Erika: She lets me and my opponent draw 3 cards; I've been thinking about 4 of her over the Oak/Elm split, as I've got Trader and Computer Search to complement Bill and either Erika or the Professors.

Recall: This is a Trainer from the Gym Heroes expansion. This card allows my active pokemon to use any attack from its basic pokemon card or any evolution card attached to it. The appeal is accessing Charmeleon's Slash, or even Flamethrower with an active Charizard post-Fire Spin; 30 damage was quite a bit for the time period that this deck is built. I simply don't know where I would fit it in.
