So this is me ranting about how everyone makes decks meant just for maximum output in damage..
Reshiboar
Blastgatr
Beartic
Donchamp
Typhlosion/reshi
Magneboar
Boom
ZPS
Boarlick
variants of all the decks above
and countless others revolving around the same basic strategy. This URKS me because we just got into a format that can have a ton of creativity. Instead of just focusing on damage players should try mass disruption/ control decks where your pokemons soul purpose is to discard your opponents hand. Or maybe the exact opposite by raising your damage by the amount of cards in their hand, also energy denial is very possible after red collection.

I am just shocked at the lack of creativity. In the deck garage Ive seen maybe.. 12 different pokemon used to build a deck around.. maybe less.. Sigh what do you guys think about this whole lack of creativity?

Maybe get creative yourselfs or if you need an idea Ive already come up with a few rouge deck ideas so just pm me for a push in the right direction. Heck even if you used a deck without a form of energy accelaration I would be so proud.

Im not saying "Dont use meta-decks, Dont be a follower!" Im all for meta game decks(I have a blastgatr deck as well as a rouge (that I love)) but try to make your own very personal deck that no one else is running. Try to make it competitive, bad grass, and just unique to yourself.

I think that this would make the pokebeach forums much more interesting at least for the deck garage. because I am sick and tired of seeing "Reshiboar" "MY reshiboar" and theirs only like a 2 card difference.

Well that pretty much raps up my rant.

^i agree

alot of people just go along with the speculated decks instead of thinking of there own unique ones...im thinking about running a politoed water swarm deck soon, its work PERFECTLY on RS

I can't exactly call my Sablelock rouge but it defently is unique. (in my opinion atleast.) Check it out for yourself if you don't belive me.

Think people just use the better decks, its always like that. Before rotation it was all Lux/blaze/dialga/sable/lox/etc. chomp chomp chomp. People don't create or play different decks because these decks are already established and for the most part proven to be good decks to play and win with. No one really wants to lose.

Plus im sure several people here on the beach have rogue decks in their minds but just don't post it here because one: they probably wont get help because people may not like the deck or get it or just won't care. two: if they do get help it most likely would be something like " This deck gets says hi to reshiboar blah blah blah..." and three: Even if you do get a fun rogue deck going it isnt much fun when all you face are these top tier high damage decks and get absolutely wrecked, unless its a real good rogue.

Of course league-decks are different but that's the thing there just casual league decks to play with friends. No matter what people say winning is nice and winning with a great rogue deck you made is more fun but it wont happen often.

Don't get me wrong, i love rogue decks.

Okay, firstly, Blastgatr and Beartic are NOT heavy hitter decks.. While Blastgatr DOES hit for 100, its more snipe oriented than actual flat out damage. And Beartic focuses on locking your opponent, not to do heavy damage. And whats Boarlick .-.

Also, people use heavy hitters because its an established way to win. Tell me what the primary way of winning the game is? Drawing all 6 of your prizes. Because this is the primary way to win, you want to do it faster than your opponent, obviously. So, there super fast hard hitting decks came around. They ARE proven to be successful, as Avacado said above me, and thats why they're used. Now, people don't really use Locking decks anymore for several reasons.

1: The primary lock abuser was Gengar SF with Poltergeist, but now that its rotated, Trainer Lock decks have no solid attackers. Chances are, if you can't attack, the opponent is just going to sweep your entire field, even if they can't use trainers.

2: We also lost Mespirit through the rotation, enabling the opponent to abuse their Pokepowers, whenever they want, punching a hole through lock decks even further.

3: The chances of disruption and deck control are basically dead, since the only good stuff left to abuse that is Slowking and Judge, and you can only have so many copies of each. Again, there is no reliable attacker.

4: Spiritomb was also rotated, making it so that you CAN'T start the lock on T1, which means that the opponent is given plenty of time to set up their attackers with their Trainers until you get that Vileplume out.

5: Not every deck out there relies soley on Trainers anymore. The format is going to be slower, there aren't AS MANY usable trainers out there, and lots of stuff still hits for a truckload of damage without Trainers. Once again, control and lock decks have no more reliable attackers, so they'll far surpass you in prizes before you can retaliate.

That is why Control and Lock decks aren't as prominant this season. Yes, I will run rogue stuff from time to time, but nothing at any major event. If I wanted to make a good combo out of cards, I could, but half the people out there play to win, so you have to meet their challenge with already proven methods of going about things.

Boarlick is using lickylicky (with emboar)to snipe.. +10 dmg for ever energy you have attached.

You guys both make very valid points but it is possible to make a rouge deck that wins fairly to semi often. All the major decks in the format play rock paper scissors with each other, also realisticly they take 4-5 turns to set up <--- this is with out any problems (Energy drought, no supporters, hand full of energy, etc.) Im fairly confident that a rouge that can set up on turn 2 and start taking apart theyre hand and causing disruption can win. (which is what Im trying to create just missing a pokemon line)

The only reason a good rouge deck is called a rouge deck is because there is already established ideas that we know work. When if the rouge idea had been thought of first then that would be a established idea.

While winning with a top tier deck is nice. I think its much more satisfying to beat them with a rouge deck and a good one at that. (which there are many of... you just got to think :D) Thats just my personal opinion.

P.S Hatman I was reffering to decks that will be in the top 3 tiers.

eh it sall bout play testing weird ideas that arnt well known yet. ive been doing that alot. ive found a could that are just beautiful for the format and some that dont work at all (banette....) its just about testing before you go to the major event or what ever then surprising your opponent cause your playing cubone tank :p

^:p it wont lol

so far what has worked very well is

Politoad Swarm (like jumpluff but just get your whole bench with water and FLIP FLIP FLIP, and politoad give freee retreat)

Gyarados (yes...i thought of a new gyarados :p. the HGSS one with hyperbeam is working very well)

those are some good contenders to make some tiers

^What does PMJ's post in the pony thread have to do with the TCG and Krookodile .-.

Krookodile basically has an attack for {F}{C}{C} which does 30 damage and locks only one of the opponent's attacks. Beartic surpasses it in pretty much every aspect, since its attack does more damage, Beartic is a Stage 1 compared to Krookodile as a Stage 2, and it locks all of the opponent's attacks, indtead of just one. I think Krookodile only has like 10 more HP, so it doesn't make a huge difference.

I think if you really want to be unique then you shouldn't post your rogue deck ideas because then everyone will copy you. that's why I don't post my rogue deck ideas and I'm pretty sure that's why most other people don't.

I can't stand the meta...this year will be the first time I do a meta deck because I want to see how far I can actually get playing "serious" at nats, but I never play anything but rogue at league/anywhere else. states I went rogue this year and didn't do too hot lol...but I made the mistake of doing a rogue lostgar (geez that was rough haha)

put 1 damage counter on then do 100. hmmm DCE energy and its a speed deck (well speed for a HGSS format :p)
