So Metagross GX is becoming pretty popular at my local store, and across the meta in general. In a list that has so many slots filled by necessary cards, and very few flex slots available, I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts or ideas about how to effectively tune your deck to beat Metagross in the mirror.
Hex Maniac seems like a must, as it is very effective against other Metagross decks, whilst maintaining utility against many other decks in the format, such as Vikavolt variants, Volcanion (to some extent), Zoroark, and even Garbotoxin. One is fine.
High counts of Max Potion also seems like a good shout, as there will be no one hit KOs between Metagrosses in the mirror, and his is another card that maintains utility against many of the formats most popular decks. Three seems like a good number.
The only other sensible deck choice I can't think of is cutting back on the Sycamore counts, in favour of N. Being able to disrupt your opponents Beacon searches, Algorithm GXs, and Rare Candy + Metagross hands seems really useful, and you have the added benefit of being able to preserve your own resources from the discard pile. 3-3, or 4 N 3 Sycamore makes sense to me.
Beyond that, I can't think of too many ways that you could tweak your deck to attack Metagross, whilst preserving consistency and utility across the meta. Anybody have any other suggestions?
