So here is my tournament report for January 8th, a Saturday. I attended the Bentonville Arkansas city championship, and played a Donphan deck.

This day was a lot of fun! I had some time to think about what I wanted to play. I actually know what I WANTED to to play, but I didn't have all the cards I needed, and I knew I couldn't have traded for them all before then, so I just put together a Donphan deck. Sadly, I lost my notes, so this is all from memory.

We arrived and met up with our friends Chris, Joel, and Daniel. I know them all from previous tournaments/leagues. I had preprinted my decklist so registration was easy. My teammate Denver (screamrawr on the 'beach) decided it would be fun to change his deck at the last minute, while I was alseep even, and not tell me until after the entire tourney was over! But it's ok. He made some changes I told him to make, even though he said he wouldn't change anything.

Round One Versus Robby (Gyarados)

I couldn't believe my first round was against my autoloss. This was incredibly demoralizing, and I knew the day was shot if I lost my all important first round. He started Sableye/Magikarp, but for some reason he had the Magikarp active. I didn't know why, but I think it was because he wanted me to go first. I started Sableye, so I did. I impersonated a collector to get two Phanpys and an Uxie. After that, he played a Super Scoop Up, got heads, and scooped his Magikarp. then he impersonated a Collector to get two Magikarps and a Regice. I knew I was screwed, but since I did design my deck to be disruptive and fast, I figured I should still make him draw every prize. So after playing my Phanpys and setting up twice with a seeker, I impersonated a judge. I hadn't hit any donphans or communications with my two uxie drops, and I figured that was it for me. I drew crap which included two BTS, and couldn't really do anything. Even though I judged away his stuff, he just impersonated another collector. I tried to Impersonate Judge again, but my other judge was prized. After that, he did what all Gyardos decks do best, which is sweep with no energy.
0-1

Round Two Versus Ryan (Strange Donk Deck)

This guy seemed nice, and the game ended up being pretty good. I think he started with a Crobat G and an Uxie on the bench. I assumed he benched the uxie to prevent him getting donked. I started with Sableye and Phanpy, and went first. I impersonated a Judge, and he couldn't do anything next turn. He did drop a Crobat G twice though on my Phanpy. I got going then, impersonating a collector, to get two uxie and a phanpy. I set up and milled through my numerous trainers, setting up two donphans. I had them both with energy and a belt before he finally killed my other benched phanpy. I tried communicating a sableye for a phanpy at one point, but it was prized, meaning I only had two Donphans to work with. He got a Zangoose and began to drag around my uxie/sableye, but I kept warp pointing/seeker to keep him from taking prizes. It was a long game with not a lot going on, but I managed to get Donphan with 3 energy and belt in the active position, and sweeped him. This guy took so long to do his turns, Time was called before I had taken 3 prizes. I won two prizes to three after the three turn rule. GG
1-1

Round Three Versus Joel (Vilegar)
I paired up with Joel, who was playing Vilegar. I figured I could outspeed him, because I typically stomped every SP deck in testing and Vilegar was slow. But I was certainly wrong. After he spiritomb started and began to evolve his oddish into vileplume, I knew I was screwed. I couldn't play trainers from the start of the match. I never topdecked anything that could help me break trainer lock, although I did impersonate a judge (It didn't help) but then he topdecked a Looker's and chose himself after seeing my hand full of Broken Time Space and Warp Points. He sniped my Uxies off with Shadow room and eventually won with me never taking a prize.
1-2

Round Four Versus Amy (Gyarados)

I knew she was playing Gyarados before the tourney began, and I was upset we were paired together. I figured another loss was coming. After wondering why I keep playing Donphan, we set up. This game was fast and brutal. I tried what I did in the first game, which was judge her impersonated regice and magikarps away. I didn't work, because like the first game, I had one Judge in my prizes. At least in this match, I actually got a Donphan out. It didn't last long though, and I ended up getting Stolen, and running out of pokemon to promote.
1-3

Round Five Versus (I can't remember.. Tyler?) (Luxchomp)

In typical fashion, I stomped this SP deck. He started with some stuff, and a Dragonite FB, but it wasn't important. I started Sableye and impersonated a Judge, killing his hand. On his turn, he couldn't do anything, so he passed and I managed to get several Donphan out. I impersonated a Cyrus's Initiative, hit two heads, and sent two of his cards (energy I think) to the bottom of his deck. From then on it was smooth sailing. He couldn't get anything out but managed to Giant Tail me for 80 Damage at least twice. He told me he wasn't going to scoop, I told him, that's very honorable, and then Heavy Impacted for multiple KO's. GG dude.
2-3

Overall it was a Good day, but the only thing good about it was everything went right from the start (except for the actual games). I had a good time and managed to get all the cards I had on my want list. Good stuff Arkansas. Our friend Daniel also got second place, and he also got a Gengar Prime from his first prize booster.
I won't post my decklist right now. (It'll be a boss deck once stormfront is gone.)
