A Dragon's Journey
Our story starts out as a normal day in
Tinorh. Eronis and his brother Hiron went to
the woods to play. On their way they found a
beautiful stone and put it in Eronis’ backpack. In Tinorh their father was making supper. When they were done playing, they went back home. Father had made soup and cherry pie. Eronis took the stone out of his backpack and took it to town. It was ruby red and very smooth. He showed it to the town observant and he waited for him to be finished. When the observant finished, he didn’t say anything, and he appeared strange... very strange
When Eronis returned home, he did his chores and went to bed. That night, he had a dream about dragons and riding upon one. Also, Hiron had a dream about dragons and fighting with it. The next morning, Eronis woke up and ate breakfast. After that, he went to wake up Hiron. Then he took his bow and some arrows and went to the woods to hunt. He waited and waited then finally, a male bison walked into the spot that he was hunting in. He got his bow out and aimed at it and aimed an arrow right at it . He shot it! Then he ran home, got a net and went back to the woods. The bison was still there. So, he bundled it up and brought it back home. By then it was already lunchtime. So, he got Hiron then, Eronis got the bison and Hiron started the fire. After that, they ate the bison. They were stuffed! Once he had some free time Eronis checked on the stone. But it was not red anymore, it was blue. So he showed it to the observant again. This time, the observant said something. “Show this to the museum curator.” He said. So he showed it to the curator. The curator said “This is some kind of egg.” Eronis put his ear up to the egg. He heard something moving inside. “Wow!” he said. I’ve never seen an egg before!
Chapter Two
The next morning, Eronis showed Hiron the egg. “It is blue now. Wasn’t it red when we found it?” Hiron said. Eronis said “It changed over night.” He told him all about the observant and the curator. “So this is an egg?” Hiron said. “Yes.” said Eronis. They both said nothing for a while. Then their father came in and said “Go to town and buy some fish.” So they did. When they got back, they checked on the egg. It was still blue and smooth. Eronis was proud to have a responsibility like taking care of an egg. That night, he stayed up the whole night studying on what could be in the egg. He narrowed it down to a tortoise a crocodile and an eagle. He wanted it to be an eagle because he wanted something that could fly. It was his birthday in one week and he wanted a pet. He didn’t know what kind of pet he wanted but all he knew was that he wanted something big and something that he could ride on. He was very hungry so he got some of the extra bison meat and ate most of it. It was a treat in Tinorh to have bison. They rarely appear in the woods. Eronis has only had it five times in his whole life.
That night, Hiron snuck out and went to the forest to play. After about an hour of playing he found the most amazing thing. Another egg! It also looked exactly the same! By then it was morning and he needed to go home before anyone woke up. So very quickly he got the egg and ran home. When he got home, he showed Eronis the other egg. Eronis was surprised! Since there were two eggs now they went to the forest to look for more. But no luck. They were wondering why there were only two eggs and not more. Probably because the eagle only laid two. Well, after that they went home. Their father was very mad because they went to the forest without
asking. He was furious! He was so
furious that he grounded them both for
a month. The kids begged and begged and
begged for another chance but they couldn’t. So, secretly they got their eggs and went to their rooms. They were discouraged. They thought that they would never find another egg. After about fifteen minutes, they tried to talk to each other through the wall. They started to get curious about their eggs so they talked through the wall. Eronis said “You shake your egg and I will shake mine.”
Chapter Three
They both shook their eggs several times and then Hiron stopped shaking and asked Eronis, “What does your egg sound like? Mine sounds fragile.” Eronis’ egg sounded exactly the same. It was fragile. They both started to get nervous because what if they dropped one of their eggs. That would be terrible! Because of that thought, they carefully laid their eggs in their closets and wrapped them up with cloth. But there was nothing to do now. So, they just decided to take a nap. While they were sleeping their father started to feel bad, so he thought about what he should do for them? He wanted to clean their rooms. So he did. He threw most of the dirty clothes in their closets. When he was done, he woke up Eronis and Hiron and showed them what he done. They were astonished! They really liked what he did. They were so happy that they forgot about their eggs. But finally they remembered about them. So when their father had left they looked in their closets for their eggs. But they couldn’t find them! They started looking all over their rooms for them. But they weren’t there! They dug in their closets and they finally found them! But Eronis’ was hatching! He was so excited that he screamed. Legs popped out one by one. They were scaly and blue. Then the wings popped out the same way. The egg was starting to stink really bad so he put it in his closet. He watched it hatch through a crack in the closet. When it hatched, Eronis glanced at it for a bit. He has never seen anything like it! Once he was done, he ran to his bookshelf and looked for a mythology book. When he found one, he looked through it until he found a picture of a baby dragon. He compared the picture and that…thing. He was astonished! He couldn’t believe it! Eronis got Hiron to come and see what they thought was a baby dragon. Hiron brought his egg with him when he went to see. Hiron thought that it had Eronis’ eyes. The dragon looked at Eronis very curiously.
Eronis was still very shocked and amazed at the creature.
Chapter Four
You are probably wondering about how Hiron is thinking. Well… he felt very jealous. But when Eronis was going to bed the dragon followed him. He didn’t know what to do. He just decided to let it sleep there for the night. So it jumped on the bed and fell asleep before Eronis even got to lay down. The dragon changed color when Eronis was asleep. It went from blue to violet. Eronis fell asleep to the soft song of the dragon music box he had on his dresser. But that night, the dragon grew about two inches. When Eronis woke up, he noticed that the dragon was gone. So he hurried to Hiron’s house.
He said his dragon egg hatched too and it wasn’t there either. They went to the part of the forest where they found the eggs. They saw both of their dragons talking to a man about sixty years old. When he saw the kids, he asked them if they know the dragons. They replied, “Yes, we both do.” The man told them “Being a dragon warrior is a big job in this world. You must have strict training to be a skilled dragon warrior.” At the moment, Eronis and Hiron were very confused. They asked, “What is a dragon warrior?” The man said, “A dragon warrior is a rare race of people who guard their towns and villages from the evil lord Gigawrath.” Hiron asked him, “Do you mean we’re warriors?” The man said “Yes, and you two is your father Granyard Sivyrin?” They replied “Yes, he is. How did you know?” “That is for you to find out.” The man said. He asked them “Who’s dragon is the violet one and who’s is the red one?” Eronis claimed his and so did Hiron. The man told them to meet him in the red woods tomorrow at any time. They told him, “okay.” That night they snuck into the basement and watched an old tape that they had since they were young. This tape showed Eronis and Hiron as little children. But they noticed something; there was a quick glimpse of something in the window behind them in the video. It was shadow like thing and it had a cape. Hiron got particularly scared because he had a dream with that figure in it.
