Box Opening Question

Depends on the set really. On average, you'll usually have 6-8 holo rares, 2-3 EX and 1 FA per box.

The newer sets are more likely to have EXs and FAs due to the total cards in the set.

Torro googleo's post is about average. i've never opened a box and not pulled at loneast one full art card, but I have pulled as many as four FAs and six Ultra Rares (EXs, ACE SPECS, etc.) in a single box. That was very lucky and I wouldn't buy a box, even of the newer sets and expect that sort of a turnout. Each invidividual booster pack is also guarenteed to contain one reverse foil card. This is never an EX, but some of them, particularly of rares and metagame cards (Donphan, Hawlucha, etc.) do have some value. What reverse foil you get is totally random and independent of the rest of the pack, and could be of a common, uncommon, or rare. You might even get a regular and a reverse foil of the same card in one pack!

If you're hunting down a single EX or FA however, I wouldn't suggest buying a box, but rather to buy the card as a single on ebay or something, or trade for it. The odds of pulliung just the card you were looking for are pretty slim. Boxes are best if you're looking to boost your collection in general and/or are looking for multiple copies of common and uncommon cards, especially staples like Sycamore, DCE, etc.
