Just a few minutes ago, I closed out the window for Pokebeach. When I reopened it about a minute later, a new bar was on my homepage, saying that the Eiffel Tower just got evacuated because of a bomb threat! The story is still developing, but please comment!
EDIT: Here is the current article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39177318/ns/travel-news

I just googled it and then checked CNN.com. The story's still new, but it seems to be legit! I wonder what's going on and if the bomb threat is real...

I've just about had enough of terrorists. What is their purpose? Seriously, they must have an I.Q of -1,000,000,000,000 if not less. I've always wanted to go to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower. :( That monumental masterpiece is over 100 years old! Besides, what do certain people have against the Parisians, or the French in general for that matter? I've recently developed an interest in skyscrapers, so I'd be distraught if the vile, corrupt, stupid person terrorists get their own way. I'm a follower of The Shard, a skyscraper in London that is currently u/c which will become the tallest building in the UK, and it's only when you hear breaking news like this that you realise terrorism can occur anywhere. Does anyone think that this could be related to the 9/11 attacks, because it was the 9th anniversary 3 days ago and it would make sense it these attacks were somehow related. How are the victims of 9/11 going to get the justice they deserve when there is a constant threat of terrorism which can bring cities and countries crashing down?

The article did not say much when I clicked on it due to it being posted only a few minutes before I saw it. However, it has slightly more details now. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39177318/ns/travel-news

There's really not that much to say until an actual report can be made. Who is doing it, and are there any demands or is this some prank?

Well...first of all I agree terroist need a purpose to do these just horrible things. I've notice they hit tall buildings because it is easier to hit like the Twin Towers and now the Eifel tower. Well I have French class right now so I'm sure I'll know the story tomorrow if the threat doesn't hit yet. This is shocking yea I hope it doesn't happen it could hurt the population of France/Paris.

Terrorsits do this to get back at the US and everyone else.

Twin Towers. Anyone see what Bin Laden wrote?

"I got my inspiration from when I was watching several towers of my home town burn in the sunset."

That was after the US destroyed the town.

Terrorists only do things to get back at people.

Not exactly correct. Yes some do happen that way others have ways to get abck at a certain person by threating something they love but, yea you got a good concept.

It's always some dumb reason they want to exact revenge. As if talking out problems is wrong. Why do they have to put many innocent lives at risk over some trivial law or rule?

Like if someone threatens some saying your gonna pay then some comeback is I will fight for what I love so clearly something of that sort probbally happen then since the France Army or whatever love the Eifle tower so much no one can really fight to ave it if it is arial attack.

Well the search comes up empty according to the article.

Also the article states that: Bomb scares are frequent in Paris, and the city has experienced terrorism firsthand. Algerian Islamic insurgents bombed the Saint-Michel station on July 25, 1995, killing eight people and injuring 150.

Here's the deal. If a bomb did blow the Eifel Tower down, the French would be extremely "mad" because,

1) Of the destruction of their capital's icon
2) Any destruction surrounding the tower when it'd fall
3) And any lives lost.

If no one died, and damages were minimal, it'd just be a personal injury to the french. Most parisians dislike the Eiffel Tower, it wasn't always there and they think of it as an eye sore. The symbol of their home gone tourism-oreinted.
