So, I'm really quite new to this game, and this is my first forum post. Playing TCGO FYI.
I'm working on building a competitive deck using only Gen 1 Pokemon. I've posted this to reddit, and got feedback from a friend in game, but just want to get as much feedback as possible to really try to make this as competitive as possible (won a few tournaments in the online tournament setup, so it definitely works sometimes).
My current deck revolves around a Charizard-EX (Stoke) / Dragonite-EX. Current decklist and strategy below:
Pokemon:
Strategy:
Charizard as starter - pull trick coin from deck using Skyla if needed/possible for better chance of stoke.
Bust in with Dragonite, rinse, repeat using AZ.
Mewtwo as Physic/High energy counter. Bust in if needed using Scramble Switch.
Raichu as Pyroar/Suicune Counter
Problems Encountered
-No Charizard/Trick coin in hand makes energy acceleration difficult
-Often difficulties vs safeguard/pyroar decks
Other notes
Been using 1 x Virbank, 1x Frozen City - more as a defense against anything carrying Silent Lab. Thinking of maybe adding PC Ninetales (Barrier Shrine) here instead of one or the other.
Anyway, my specific questions would be:
A) What changes would you recommend on the trainer front?
B) What stadiums (if any) you think would work best for this deck? I've been trialing a mix of Frozen/Virbank, Seems ok, but definitely open to trying others.
C) Would you recommend any changes to the numbers of each Pokemon?
D) Are there any Gen 1 Ability pokemon that may work well with this deck?
E) Would any other Gen 1 Pokemon be a better fit than the Raichu Line - have considered AT Kingdra/Victreebell/Ninetales (Bright Look) but haven't tested yet.
F) Are there any other Gen 1 only deck setups you think would be stronger than this?
Any help on any of the above would be greatly appreciated!
