BW-on: Zeelquaza! (Updated! 8/15/12)

With the release of the new and much-hyped Dragon-type, people are wondering which variant will come out on top: Garchomp Altaria, Rayquaza Eelektrik, or Hydreigon Darkrai? I am no exception, and am trying to make the best of the new type. The main gimmick of Dragon-types is that they are powerful Pokemon that are only weak to themselves, but the tradeoff is that they require multiple types of energy to attack. My goal is to perfect the power of the Dragon Pokemon, but I can't do it alone! Today, I bring to you Zeelquaza, the combination of Zekrom, Eelektrik, and Rayquaza. The strategy is to use Emolga to bring out the Basic Pokemon and EX cards, and then evolve Tynamo into Eelektrik and use the Dynamotor ability to get a ton of {L} Energy onto Rayquaza-EX, and then use Dragon Burst to OHKO almost anything! Alternatively, you can use Rayquaza or Zekrom's normal forms to get some cheap damage. Or you can use Zekrom-EX to deal a ton of damage to any Pokemon as well as getting {L} Energy in the position where it can be used by Eelektrik. Here is my current decklist.

Pokemon: 17
3 Rayquaza-EX (DR 85/123)
1 Mewtwo-EX (ND 54/98)
4 Tynamo (3 DE 45) (1 NV 38)
4 Eelektrik (NV 40)
2 Zekrom (BW 47/114/ND 50)
3 Emolga (DR 45)

Trainers: 29
4 N
4 Professor Juniper
2 Level Ball
2 Skyarrow Bridge
2 Random Reciever
3 Ultra Ball
2 Super Rod
4 Pokemon Catcher
2 Tool Scrapper
3 Eviolite
1 PlusPower

Energy: 14
4 {R} Energy
8 {L} Energy
2 {C}{C} Energy

Edit #1: Courtesy of Dweaver, I've replaced both of the Rayquaza 128 for 1 Rayquaza-EX and 1 Ultra Ball. Also, on my own will, I've replaced a Random Reciever with an Emolga!

Edit #2: Courtesy of JadeEspeon, I've replaced both of the Mew-EX with a Mewtwo-EX, as well as replacing both Zekrom-EX with one Zekrom. Courtesy of pkolaboy, I've used 1 of the empty spaces for a PlusPower, and on my own will, I used the other empty space for another Emolga!

3 words: I appreciate feedback! I'm definitely no expert in the TCG as I've not been playing for a year, but I would love to hear from people who are more experienced than me.

RE: BW-on: Zeelquaza!

I would cut Double Colorless completely for 2 more Ultra Ball. Also if you want you can check out my thread its a lot like your deck and did you pull both those SR Rayquazas? LOL

RE: BW-on: Zeelquaza!

Ok I see then in that case I would cut both SR Rayquazas and add 2 Ultra Balls

RE: BW-on: Zeelquaza!

OK, but here's what I think. While I think that I should cut the SR Rayquaza, I feel that then I should have 3 Rayquaza-EXs so I can use the Fire Energies. I'm thinking that, for now, I'll take out both SR Rayquaza for 1 Rayquaza-EX and 1 Ultra Ball.

RE: BW-on: Zeelquaza!

I think it's an awful lot of EX clutter. You're looking at a lot of Prize loss if luck isn't good with your draw. But, I guess the whole game, in general is up to luck of the draw, eh?

It is a bit more than necessary, but hey. I'm considering taking out a Mew. Would that be a good idea?

Well, I wouldn't really see why you'd need 2, and Mew EX itself as we all know if lower in HP than most EX. It's begging to fall victim to Catcher or Bright Look. So, that's probably a good idea, yeah. Though I'd do it a little different.

Have you considered:
4-3 Eelektrik
2 Rayquaza EX
2 Emolga DRE
2 Zekrom BW
1 Mewtwo EX
4 Juniper
3 Bianca
4 Cheren
4 Level Ball
4 Catcher
2 Ultra Ball
2 Sky Arrow
2 Switch
2 Giant Cape
2 Eviolite
2 Energy Retreival
2 Energy Search
1 Super Rod
9 {L}
4 {R}

The object is similar to ZekEels in the sense of Energy Acceleration, but you'd want to use Eels to power up RAYQUAZA , as opposed to Zekrom. This way, you won't lose so much support, etc when using Celestial Roar and discarding. Use Emolga to search out Pokemon, (obvious) and Level ball to search out Emolga if needed. Switch to Zekrom if Rayquaza gets into trouble (Sky Arrow first to reduce retreat cost, unless you plan to sacrifice him) and use Eels for Zekrom. (prolong the play of Eels with Giant Cape) You want to use Zekrom in that situation so that fewer prizes are taken from a KO. Mewtwo to combat Mewtwo. (as per usual) And the other support should be obvious. XD

RE: BW-on: Zeelquaza!

I would maybe add pluspower to battle against the 130hp pokemon (so that you do not have to discard that extra energy). Tool scrapper is great because you can scrape away the eviolite and not have to worry about not OHKO'ing the opponents pokemon.

I agree on Plus Power. Tool Scrapper I'm kinda 50/50. Obviously, we can't counter EVERYTHING, and since people KNOW that most will counter Garbador it's hit or miss whether to waste the space for Tool Scrapper. (Unless you only really want it to get rid of tools.) It really depends on your local format, I'd say.

How about this. Using the decklist I have now, I replace the Mew-EX with 1 Mewtwo-EX and 1 Emolga (3 seems to be the standard, especially for decks running this many basics) and I use 2 Zekrom BWs instead of 2 -EX and 1 BW. As for pkolaboy's suggestion of the PlusPowers, that is a very good idea and I think I'll use the empty slot from taking Zekrom-EX for that.

That looks much better than your first list. :)
