Hey everybody I am going to summer camp and I was just wondering, what are your best/worst memories of summer camp? Mine was when I left my inhaler at home and had a really bad asthma attack. I had to get taken to the hospital and was like dying it was pretty crazy. But ya just comment below :D

RE: Summer Camp!

There's only one kind of summer camp worth going to, and it's called BAND CAMP! :DD

I mean it.

RE: Summer Camp!

The best memory of my summer camp is when I got stuck alone inside a tent upon a hill for a night, it was raining cats and dogs suddenly. That was a very scary moment...

RE: Summer Camp: Your best/worst memories?

I remember going to camp one year and everything was going great until we left the housing area, and got tents to spend one night out in the woods. It was cold and I couldn't get a wink of sleep because people were up yelling and carrying on.

Best memory is probably the food around the campfire and going swimming/canoeing. Love me some smores and being on/in the water.

I remember one time when I was about 12, me and two friends tried to build dens in the local woods so that we could stay the night in them. We were armed with sleeping bags and nothing else (maybe a torch?). We built in a really secluded area, but it became quickly apparent that the dens were useless and didn't keep us warm, dry or free of bugs. So we wondered about the streets and alleys instead looking for a place to sleep. I think eventually we made camp on someone's front lawn and left before they woke up and noticed us.

Erm we also were fond of making fires... We made campfires all the time. Everywhere. One time we were unfortunate enough to make one in the neighbourhood of an ex-fireman and we got totally busted. :I

The best memory I have is really gross, but so hilarious omg

OK so there was us trying to build dens in a part of the woods that we wanted to sleep overnight in. It was a good haunt but fairly open. The three of us were found by a couple of guys about 4 years older than us, who we were no match for in terms of a fight. They said they were going to come back with more people and trash the place up, undoing all our hard work.

So... We couldn't win this, but we could lay a trap. We took a bucket, and a trowel. We proceeded to fill it with dog turds that littered the main trails of the woods that lazy owners didn't bother to scoop up. We mixed them with a little water so it all sloshed together.

Then, we dug a nice deep hole in the centre of our camp. We put the bucket of awful in the hole and covered the top with branches and dirt to keep it hidden. Hiding the hole was fine, but you can imagine the smell at this point, which was harder to mask. In fact I'm pretty sure one of us took a whiz in it too.

Trap set. It was time to leave the area and find a safe spot to watch from the distance, unseen.

About an hour later, as promised, we see the thugs stroll into the campsite. They look a little disappointed presumably because they wanted us to still be there to watch them trash our site. They are also a little puzzled about the smell.

The leader of the group takes a few steps forward, and we notice his leg disappear into the hole. It takes him a good few seconds to realise what's just happened. He looks pissed. His scream of rage echos across the entire wood.

One of my friends bails. He legs it out of the clearing, completely giving away our position. Me and the other have to run for our lives too now. We run for a good 5 minutes before we're sure we lost them.

We never saw those guys again, fortunately!

Tick bites.
Clogged portable toilets.
Tick bites.
Cramped sleeping areas.
Did I mention tick bites?

Me and a few friends went camping a few months ago.
One of my friends whizzed on my cookies and part of the tent unknowingly.
I was upset for the rest of the trip.
Those were some fine cookies too.

Also one of the guys stuck (as in super glued) a cardboard box under his shirt and it was the funniest thing ever.

I love camping.

I camped often as a Cub/Boy Scout, but I never truly enjoyed it. It certainly wasn't the worst thing to do, but I like sleeping on a comfortable bed too much to voluntarily choose to sleep in a tent.

My best memory: We camped at an airfield once. It was massive and fun to explore (I like large, open grassy fields, for some reason) and when we woke up in the morning the whole place was covered in extremely thick fog. It was pretty awesome to walk through the fog, and it was nice and cold.

Edit: I also had a fun sleepover with some friends in New York where we camped in their back yard... I'm not sure if that truly counts.

As far as my worst memories are concerned, pretty much this. Camping was what created my eternal hatred for mosquitos and ticks... And any other parasite.

The only other bad memory that sticks out is when I was fishing and my friend was casting his line - the hook got caught right under my eyelid and we had to carefully remove it. (Thankfully it didn't do anything more damaging!)

At my most recent camp we had a camfire. We were allowed to throw all the leaves on it..soon everyone was doing it. :3 and unlimited marshmallows.

I almost tried to ride a deer.

Correction, I tried to ride a deer.

Deer sure do run fast...

So many good memories. I can't think of one thing or even a couple of things to put out there, but I'd have to say staffing the kitchens at Winter Camp with our venture crew - we always got leftover food and were the only youth to get coffee.
