RBY Can a Pokemon Go Over Level 100? (Red)

hi

my brother once raised one of his pokemon over the level 100 how is that possible and he couldnt use cheats so how do you think he did it?

Actually, there is a way, if you use the MissingNo glitch to duplicate Rare Candies, then you could raise your pokemon above level 100. There wasn't a ceiling to the Rare Candies back then, so you could go as high as you wanted with them.

Yeah, because when I bought my Silver version, It was used, and all of the Pokemon the last guy had were like level 120-130 something. I just assume now that he did the RareCandy hack.

Actually, if a Pokemon has leveled up to level 100, you can't use Rare Candies to bolster it above that. However, if you start with a Pokemon that is already over level 100 (the Old Man Glitch), raising them as high as 255 is possible. But if it earns any experience it will "level up" to level 100 and be stuck there.

I've got a level 216 Golduck for lulz :p

Well...presumably you might be able to trade them to a GSC game. I don't know what happens and I cannot test it, since my Link Cable (or my actual Game Boy) isn't working correctly for me to do that.

Maybe it'll stay the same level, I dunno. Why not have someone test it?

I've traded Pokemon over level 100 to my Silver version before and they went back down to level 100...I was bummed. =P

Ah I remember doing this alot on Pokemon Red XD. I did manage to get a Tauros level 182 and Mewtwo level 155. Unfortunatly they definatly go back down to level 100 when traded to G/S/C
