Discussion Can Alolan Muk GX be competitive?

Thoughts? I feel like a list running Po Town w/ Acerola and maybe a single Drampa GX is the most competitive version of said deck. What do you guys think? What's strong about the deck and what are it's weaknesses?

Salazzle comes to mind as it gives two conditions to active Pokemon. With choice band it will do 180 and Ohko most basic gx Pokemon. Don't recall if Hypno is still standard after rotation but it would add a third condition allowing muck to hit for 250. With Acerola and SSU you could pull up salazzle and hypno. Ultimately though I see Muk as being a fun deck to play around with but probably won't see a lot of success due to its energy costs and dependence on getting conditions on active Pokemon.

It is, sticking, the only problem is that Running Hypno means you have to run All-Night Party, meaning you can't use Po Town for the Acerola/Damage Boost

Combined with Salazzle from GUR and Raichu from BUS, I think so. The deck may be slow to set up however.

How're you going to get both Salazzle and Raichu every turn?

You have a gx attack that compliments the first attack. Can lele for brig and setup 2 salandit and pika on bench, then sycamore and hopefully get one next turn. Possibly add 1-1 octillery line for consistency.

But that means every turn you have to scoop up two pokemon which is VERY hard

Which is why you run Raichu, it makes it so the opponent has to switch either with switch or olympia. Which sometimes they won't be able to pull off. You run Acerola, Super scoop ups, and devolution spray to make it more consistent.

Also I might go with a different version that involves Po Town, Drampa GX, and Acerola. Idk which version is better.

I currently do not think Alolan Muk GX has a deck ready yet. However it might come in the future. By large because the Grimer in BUS specifically has a basic design that is just much better as you typically get from a basic pokemon (like Alolan Vulpix in the previous set for example). A key card for it would be a Pokemon that puts an effect on the oppossing active Pokemon just by entering play. A very unlikely reprint of Hypnotoxic Laser would also make him a very nasty GX aswell.

As is however I think it's a rough design, so get him if you like Muk. I did the same with my Machamp GX, fully knowing that now is not yet the time and their time might not come at all.
