Since King Arceus is busy and won't be able to put up Simishock on our Pokemon Online server until he has more time, we're going to discuss possible movesets, partners, and ways to beat Simishock. If you need to know what it's moves, typing, and stats are, please click here to view the portal post on it.

Alright, I'll give a quick overview of it from a pair of fresh eyes because I know next to nothing about the making of this.

With a quick look over it's stats, I see decent HP, not so great attacking stats, good defense, very good special defense, and not so great speed. My mind immediately screams "WALL!" because of the defensive stats. However, looking at the ability, it becomes obvious that the main reason for this Pokemon is to counter weather.

Now, countering weather doesn't really work by stalling. The other weather user can easily switch out. That means it needs to have some way to put a heavy dent in weather users. A quick look at it's movepool reveals Focus Blast and Close Combat, which should both put a pretty heavy dent in Tyranitar, which it happens to barely outspeed also. However, due to Tyranitar's massive Special Defense during a sandstorm, Close Combat seems like it's a better option, but is unfortunately not exactly optimal because of the dreadful attack stat. I assume the people who made this aren't trolls though and that they gave Simishock just enough attack to OHKO Tyranitar. Another look at it's movepool reveals Thunderbolt and Volt Switch, with are both nice options for denting Politoed. Abomasnow should get taken down by a quick Focus Blast. Ninetails seems like more of an issue, so I'm not sure how well Simishock would counter Ninetails.

Anyway, right now we're looking at a mixed moveset, Close Combat to OHKO Tyranitar, Focus Blast for general STAB and killing Abomasnow, and Thunderbolt or Volt Switch, depending on the exact use you want for him, for Politoed. Simishock also has a decent support movepool in Circle Throw and Thunder Wave, but stalling seems very difficult without a reliable recovery move.

That's it for now, I'll come up with some actual movesets later.

Close Combat backed by 69 Attack OHKOs ScarfTar without Stealth Rock, while 252 HP Tyranitar is OHKO'd after SR. This is all with a neutral nature and no attack EVs.

I'm probably going to push for it to get Slack Off in a revision process. Infernape and Slaking get it, both of which are apes like Simishock. Simishock also has the stats and movepool to fully use Slack Off.

Low kick creates the same results vs. Tyranitar as close combat, without the drawback of lowered defense.

0Atk Riolu (Neutral) Low Kick vs 252HP/0Def Tyranitar (Neutral): 89% - 104% (360 - 424 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO. 31% chance to OHKO.

0Atk Riolu (Neutral) Low Kick vs 0HP/0Def Tyranitar (Neutral): 105% - 124% (360 - 424 HP). Guaranteed OHKO.

(Used Riolu because fighting and 70 ATk)

CC of course has advantage over Low Kick in other situations, however paired with volt switch and other more prevalent attacks (Focus Blast/Aura Sphere), Low Kick makes a good choice on Simishock.

Ah, I forgot it even had Low Kick.

Simishock @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Sky
EVs: 252 HP / 20 Def / 236 SDef
Sassy Nature
- Low Kick
- Thunderbolt
- Toxic
- idk

This spread is not 2HKO'd by Specs Politoed's Hydro Pump and LO Modest Ninetale's Fire Blast when both of which are not boosted by their weathers. Low Kick KOs Tyranitar. Only the most defensive Politoed will take Thunderbolts, and even then it can't do much back. Toxic is toxic. Last slot I was maybe thinking HP Ice for obvious Landorus/Gliscor/Venusaur switchins, or Siesmic Toss for consistent damage.

God I wish we had gave this thing Slack Off to fill that space. :<

Speaking of which, RestTalk + Circle Throw sounds neat but Gyarados does this job better with Intimidate.

I'd probably side with Circle Throw on a defensive set. I know that Low Kick can OHKO, but it's a move highly specific to Tyranitar and has little utility outside of that. Circle Throw is interesting for softening counters with hazards, particularly Dragonite, and gives Simishock the defensive utility it desperately needs.

Simishock @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Sky
EVs: 252 HP / 20 Def / 236 SDef
Sassy Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Volt Switch / U-Turn
- Aura Sphere
- Hidden Power: Ice / Thunderbolt

Focusing on two key traits of a weather starter: Pivoting and survivability. Or in honour of its namesake, being annoying and never going away.

Thunder Wave allows Simishock to cripple some of its counters as well as weather starters, limiting their switch-in abilities and thus keeping things in your favour. Simishock doesn't enjoy taking on entire teams with his relatively low offensive stats, and would rather switch out with a pivot move so he can passionatly to his girlfreind on the phone, saving his energy so he can live to troll another day.

Volt Switch is the more powerful pivot attack, but it means you cannot escape Ground switch-ins. Thunderbolt also becomes a less appealing option as running three attacks of the same type is not advisable, so stick with Hidden Power: Ice or even Fire Blast. You can run U-turn if you really like Thunderbolt and enjoy hitting Celebi for x4 damage if that's your sort of thing, and it also keeps momentum against Landbro and chums. Aura Sphere because it's your best STAB Fighting move, yup.

I don't think Simishock currently has the capability to run full offence with Calm Mind or full defence with Circle Throw, so striking a balance between the two seems to be the best option in my opinion..

EV spread taken from ComplacentCockatiel because I don't have time to damage calc!

It seems like a Calm Mind set would be decent. More physially bulky than Jirachi, even though it's got less resistances. But how about

Simishock @Leftovers
Trait: lol
EVs: IDK
~Calm Mind
~Thunderbolt
~Aura Sphere
~Hidden Power Coverage move/Fire Blast/Substitute/Slack off if it gets it

Seems like it would work well with Latios or Latias. Latios/as can draw in Blissey and then psyshock it to death. Plus both of these can switch into Earthquake easily. Otherwise on a stall team Skarmory would work as it can set up hazards and phaze stuff. Skarm's also immune to Earthquake. Scizor could work for a VoltTurn team, as it could switch into Psychic types and trap them with either U-turn, Pursuit, or Bullet Punch.

Simishock @ Choice Specs
Trait: Clear Sky
EVs: idk but 252 SAtk is needed. The rest can be put in bulk.
Modest Nature
- Aura Sphere / Focus Blast
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power Ice
- Fire Blast / U-Turn / Vacuum Wave / Thunderbolt / filler

With good prediction, Simishock can do serious damage to typical switch-ins as even Latias isn't safe after SR (all it can do is Recover and hope that Simishock gets really low damage rolls.) Aura Sphere is your best move, although Focus Blast (inb4 hate) is notable for 2HKOing Blissey. Volt Switch is for offensive momentum and strong STAB. HP Ice is to lay the hurt on Gliscor, Landorus, Venusaur, Dragons, etc. The last slot really isn't needed but helpful. Fire Blast hurts Celebi and Venusaur more, while also making Simishock a great Scizor switch-in. U-Turn does less damage to Celebi than HP Ice but helps vs Ground-type switches. Vacuum Wave is okay if you want Simishock to revenge some sweepers but it's so weak that it fails to OHKO Terrakion outside of Sand or Lucario until a few rounds of LO. Thunderbolt I guess for if you want a stronger STAB for cleaning reasons.

I honestly don't think there's a safe switch-in for Simishock outside of a very bulky Latias (and even those get trolled by bacon's set).

And Quagsire. Actually Gastrodon can take all but Focus Blasts which is neat.

I wasn't involved in this project in any way, and didn't know any of its progress so yeah. This post is from a complete stranger's eyes ^.^

Simishock @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Sky
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 SpD
- Calm Mind
- Charge Beam
- Thunderbolt/ Hidden Power Ice
- Aura Sphere/ Hidden Power Ice

By adding in Charge Beam, Simishock gains the ability to further increase increase its Special Attack, even if he gets taunted. Charge Beam also allows Simishock to start attacking straight away, and gain boosts as he attacks (due to the handy 70% chance of his Special Attack being boosted by one stage.) This strategy could be useful when attacking weakened pokemon with in KO distance, to finish them off and gain the boost. Thunderbolt and Aura Sphere are the premier attacks, but either could be replaced with Hidden Power Ice to hit Gliscor, Landorus and Dragons hard.

Other Options:
- Dumping some EVs into Special Attack if it is needed to finish off certain pokemon <- I haven't done any calculations so..
- Alternative Hidden Power types to fit the teams needs
- Focus Blast instead of Aura Sphere if you want the extra power (but note its lower accuracy)
- Fire Blast

Charge Beam + Calm Mind is highly counterproductive. You should only use Charge Beam if the Pokemon using it has no other way of boosting it's Sp. Attack (see: Magnezone and Jolteon). Simishock would benifit more from Thunderbolt instead of a 50 BP STAB that sometimes doesn't work.

It's a shame it doesn't get a recovery move other than rest, because it could otherwise be pretty boss.

Rest/Sleep Talk/CM/Aura Sphere seems like a interesting take on Simishock. This route is similar to Crocune of old, but it seems nice on paper.

You could run that with ttar or Scizor pretty well. Both of them can pursuit the lati twins and ghost-types who would otherwise wall you completely.
