What do you guys think about this card? It's obviously not that good, but the dragons have really lost their influence on the format so the HP isn't too terrible. Being able to two-hit any basic on your opponent's bench while also setting up OHKOs on the rest of your opponent's field with Inferno is pretty darn good. Or fun at least. And it's very good against Durant.

Are there any particularly good combos with this?

But speaking of Inferno, I can't believe they censored Purgatory. If we don't censor hell, they don't have to censor that. That would have been so fun to say. Oh well. Lol.

Haha, my class is reading Dante's The Inferno, so that made me laugh.

Anyway, I saw the scan for this card earlier today and I was immediately wanting to play it, even if it's not that great. It seems like it would be fun to play with Kyurem or maybe like Reshiram, setting up OHKO's on their board. I'll definitely be picking some up at my prerelease on Sunday!

It would be 10 times better if it had 10 or 20 more HP, but if it turns out to be that big a deal then Defenders could remedy that. A deck with a 2/2 split of the Chandelures could be pretty good at spreading, and wouldn't really need Tropical Beach as much as other varients.

For some reference, I played a speedy chandy, for the cities I attended, and I top cut 5 times (out of about 8-9 I attended). My list was really different from many that I have seen.

I don't know what the meta-game is going to look like, and truly, no one does yet, but I estimate that Chandelure is dead. I want this card to bring new life to the deck, but I'm not sure. There are a lot of positives though.

Pro's:
- Energy efficient attack with synergy with Purple Chandy
- Mewtwo needs 5 NRG to OHKO
- Helps purple Chandy deal with Cobalion and Durant
- Can discard NRG for Jirachi (Inferno can be Powered with (RP))
- Takes easy prizes off of Celebis
- Just generally a good, but not overpowered card

Con's
-120 HP instead of 130, which is bad for a few reasons, but mostly Zekrom and Reshi, which will still see some play
- Having to run different NRG lines
- Reshi and Zek EX hitting for 150... which gives them both problems actually.

hmm... thats a shorter list of cons than I thought.

[edit]: Another con is that eviolite doesnt get by-passed like with purple chandy.

I am going to test this guy, but I think once the Mewtwo hype dies down, the real threats are going to be... sigh.... Reshi EX and Zekrom EX. Lets face it, they both have engines, and they both hit for 150. What can compete with that?

I actually thought it would be a good complement to the other chandelures. put 30 counter, retreat, put 30 more, switch, Flame burst for 90 more.

I'm not really sure if this Chandelure is worth the space in a modern Chandelure list. The extra snipe damage to another bench Pokémon, and thirty to the active is nice, however it has a large amount of cons, and comes at a high price. The first obvious con that I noticed is the fire energy cost to attack. This means that you are going to have to add a couple fire energy if you want to get the attack off with this Chandelure. It wouldn't be a very good idea to play Rainbow Energy, because if you needed to attach it to your other Chandelure, it would bring you down to 120 HP, making it so Reshiram and Zekrom could get the OHKO. Adding fire energy is going to take away from your regular Chandelure's ability to attack. Since you are now using an attack every turn as opposed to sniping with a second Psychic Chandelure, it is going to be more difficult for you to utilize Tropical Beach effectively. This card could actually work out to be a decent tech into Chandelure lists that do not run Tropical Beach, simply because the player doesn't own them.

Other obvious things worth mentioning are that it has a terrible time taking down Kyurems. If your opponent is playing Kyurem in anyway, you are either going to have to completely play around it, meaning not even using your Fire type Chandelure, attack with your other Chandelure, which isn't likely if you are playing Fire Energy, or you are going to have to sacrifice your fire type Chandelure. The 120 HP is an obvious flaw as well, getting OHKO by the Dragons is still going to hurt. Eviolite reduces your snipe damage.

Chandyplume already has a really tough time taking down Kyurem decks anyways, since they can't compete with the insanely fast spread.

I like this Chandelure, though. 30 damage to three Pokemon for only one Energy is very nice, and it can fit well into Chandyplume decks, allowing you to 120 damage around the board in one turn (under a Trainer lock, and for only one Energy). However, it isn't quite as abusable with Chandelure/Dodrio/Vileplume, since you have to sacrifice a little bit of Cursed Shadow.

I've covered many issues with Chandelure in my CotD post, located here.

Essentially, ChandeluRed can help provide a counter to Durant/CaKE style decks, while still maintaining power to bench snipe multiple Pokemon at once. The downsides are needing energy to attack, and if you retreat into Chandelurple, you can't retreat back to do another fire attack without switch, which sort of delegates a Flame Burst to once every other turn.

Totally made those names up on the spot. Yeeee.
