I read the card review on the Lightning/Metal Charizard 120 HP and how Metagross DX can keep him stocked with Metal energy. Can someone explain how that works to me. Can you use PokePowers/Bodies from your benched pokemon when playing or is there something I'm missing?

You can always use a Poke-Power from your benched pokemon if the power does not state otherwise 
The Metagross DX Power lets you use it once per turn, even if Metagross is on your bech. Always read the Power carefully through. It will tell you what you can and what you can't do.
Poke-Bodys are always on. Even on bench.

Poké-powers can work always EXCEPT when a card specifically states otherwise. For example, Metagross Ex (PowerKeepers) can only work his magic when he's active. On the other hand, Metagross DX does NOT state anything about when you can use its power safe from "once during your turn".
