Has anyone else been extremely tuned in to this?? It may just be me but im Chilean so this means alot to me and my family. Right now only two miners left so i think this thread is a little late but this is for discussion on it.
You can discuss feelings, news about it or anything related to the Chilean Miners here.

Well, I think it's very interesting because they survived for 70 days underground. They must have a lot of resources down there. So, do you know anyone down there? Or is one of your distant relatives down there?

They did not survive entirely on the resources below ground. If I recall, a small hole was bored through which supplies were passed. Obviously, surviving for 70 days underground is still an impressive feat.

actually, they really had the will to live. They had like a tablespoon of food each day, and excercized to stay fit. Its really an amazing story.

I am so happy everyone made it out alive. :D To me, it is an impressive story on how the leader of the miners stayed so calm and collected throughout the whole time. One of the reasons why everyone came out alive was because of that man. :)

@azelf master
one person who was stuck had the same last name as me (yanez) but is not related to me

im glad theyre out now

I wasn't following this, but my teacher was, so I first found out they were being rescued when she told us. I wouldn't have been able stand being trapped down there as I am claustrophobic. But at least they came out early, I think estimates were around Christmas?

Yeah, I actually did follow that for awhile. I found out about their escape when I tuned in to The Daily Show with John Stewart. It must be quite a relief for their families too see them alive and well.

It is a pretty amazing story. I am happy to see they were rescued. I have been in several caves and mine shafts and they are freaky places!

I heard from somebody that one of the miners called both his wife and his mistress to meet him after he got out. Apparently his wife was pretty upset. Would somebody tell me why it took so long to get them out?

They had to come up with the safest way possible to get them out without them being trapped completely. IIRC, there was maybe a plan before (or two) that they tried and didn't work and finally were able to get them out with this one.

I'm glad they were able to get them out. This was really a great effort from everyone involved to help out.

dmaster out.

Find it surprising that all the miners survived for over 2 months deep in a mine. It's truly a miracle.

I am glad that all the Chilean Miners survived after being trapped underground for almost two months. I would go crazy if I was trapped underground for 2 months. It is nice to finally see your family and friends faces after coming back to the surface. A lot of people had helped out with this and cheered when the miners arose to the surface.

This is truly a miracle that everybody survived, and now people are complaining about what will happen to the mine. Geez. ._.

Uh, yea, there was a small tube made that people sent down resources to the miners to.

Would somebody tell me why it took so long to get them out?
Both the normal and safety exit was barricaded when the mine collapsed so they had to dig an entirely new hole to get them out.

I swear every day in social for the past 2 month's we've been talking about them. ._. And then, we did so in math a few days ago as well. Geez.

And yes, they weren't expected to get out until sometime in December- it's October. For a mining rescue, that's just a plain impressing miracle.
and excercized to stay fit.
I believe there was one man that lost 30 pounds - well he had to. He was overweight, and wouldn't have fit through the capsule with his previous size.

Whoa, I was just watching this on the news when I saw this thread! Anyway, I am very glad they are out and kinda sad they have to where sunglasses for a few days cause they were in the dark so long.

Excellent regulating the food - they got very little, but they made it. Youngest guy was 19 and had only been a miner for 5 months before it happened.

I'm so glad they're all safe and out of the mine, its rare to here stories like this that have a happy ending to it anymore.
