When a Charizard ex is being treated as the grass type (e.g. due to the effect of Promo Smeargle) and a Venusaur CG is in play, what type do colourless energy attached to it provide?

I know most of the ins and outs of the rules but this really stumped me.

My answer would probably be that the player whose turn it is gets to decide.

They'd be fire, I think. If Venusaur's body activates first, they become grass, then Charizard's body makes them fire. If Charizard's body activates first, then they become fire and Venusaur's body doesn't affect them.

They would be all fire energy, since zards body says that they provide fire energy instead of thier usual type.

Thanks for the feedback, I think I understand now.

Whichever order you apply the bodies, as the bodies are continuous and not optional they then "reapply". What I mean is that as soon as the energy becomes fire - as it must indeed do from the body at some point - it is then no longer colourless and unaffected by Chloropyll!
