Could someone please list a few of the most common deck strategies and include a few words to explain each one? For example:

"Damage Spread": a deck which puts damage onto both the active and benched pokémon.

T2 deck: A deck that involes bringing out a certain pokemon in 2 turns to attack hard.
Rogue deck: A deck that looks what it seems but it isn't.
Sniper Deck: A deck that focuses on attacking the bench
Hand Distruption: A deck that focuses on disrupting your hand in early game.
Archtype: A deck that is exceptionally powerful, for example: Gardellade.
n00b deck: A deck that focuses on nothing! :p

Hope I've helped.

Not really. Archetype means a deck that is good & used by many players. For example; G&G...
n00b deck: A deck that focuses on nothing! :p

Hope I've helped.

H_M forgot a rarely used one.. SET-UP deck : requires 2 to 3 pokemons on the field and will use their powers and attack to do nasty damage ex: Inferncatty

Three sub categories for bench damaging are:

Speed Spread-Evenly distributes quick damage to all your opponents Pokemon
Bombing-Deals intermediate damage to 2-3 of your opponents Pokemon
Sniping-Deals massive damage to a specific benched Pokemon

To paraphrase you all common deck names are:
T2 deck: Brings out a pokemon in 2 turns to attack hard.
Rogue deck: A deck that isn't what it appears to be.
Sniper deck: Deals massive damage to a specific benched Pokemon.
Speed Spread deck: Evenly distributes damage all of your opponents Pokemon (or all the benched Pokemon).
Bombing deck: Deals intermediate damage to 2-3 of your opponents Pokemon.
Hand Distruption deck: Disrupts the opponents hand.
Archtypal deck: A popular powerful deck
Set Up deck: requires 2 to 3 pokemon on the field which use their powers and attacks to do nasty damage.
n00b deck: A deck that has no focus! :p

Thanks!, Munchlaxx.

Speed Spread & Sniping deck are actually different, a little bit. Speed Spread is more damaging all of your opponent's at one go. For example; Prinplup's Aqua Shower. Whereas Sniping is more to damaging one of your opponent's bench pokemon with high damage. Empoleon DP is a good example in this case. As for the Hand Disruption Deck, the deck do not only disrupt your opponent's hand in early, they disrupt throughout the whole match. Just take a look at a DWD or Honchsol deck & you will know it... :D

T2 deck: A high damage output asap, which is on turn 2.
Rogue deck: Unlike an archetype, a rarely seen combo that, surprisingly, works.
Sniper deck: Deals massive damage to a specific benched Pokemon.
Speed Spread Sniper deck: Evenly distributes quick damage to all your opponents Pokemon.
Bombing Sniper deck: Deals intermediate damage to 2-3 of your opponents Pokemon.
Hand Distruption deck: Makes setup harder by discarding your cards. Fails mostly against T2 decks, wins against setup.
Archtypal deck: A popular, powerful (and often quite overplayed) deck.
Set Up deck: requires >2 on the field which use their powers and attacks to commit premeditated murders. Out of this list, this is what takes up the most turns to start dealing damage and is mostly very predictable and easily disruptable by tools, attacks or stadiums. Infercatty is actually a T2 deck that converts into a setup deck during the game, so it's not a good example imho.
n00b deck: A deck that has no focus! Toungue
Versatile deck: A deck that seems to have no focus (lol noob), since it has the ability to focus on many different things. Destiny was an example of this and guess what? It won many games. Predictability, or rather lack of it, and adaptability are still very important in the TCG.
I edited it a bit, but it was a good list to start with. Hope I could help.

When I first saw this thread, I asked myself, there's a sticky Pokemon Terminology thread. Why didn't he just look there?

So I looked around and sure enough there was a sticky thread like I thought, and I saw he really did post in it, but there's a couple problems.

One, banned user made it. Ew.

Two, it's horrendously outdated (it was written for the Eon format), and seems like a copy/paste job from some other forum.

So, I deleted it. We need something up-to-date.

If any of you want to spearhead the compiling of a very descriptive list of TCG terms, lingo, etc. and make a thread in TCG Discussion, that'd be great. Keep it alphabetical. That will help immensely.

Remember, only make the thread if you're willing to edit it and keep it updated with new terms. If you'd still like to contribute, but don't feel like being responsible for the upkeep of the entire thread, PM me your ideas and I'll edit them into the main list if they're good enough.

In the event two or more people are interested in making the thread, we'll only go with the one made first. Don't delete your thread, though, cause I can just merge it with the first one, or copy and paste the contents of the second one, or whatever. Just leave it there. :p

OK, I'm game. I'd like to give something back to the forum for the flood of advice I've received so far.

I appreciate the offer, but I'd like to leave this to someone a bit more knowledgeable on the TCG.

But if no one else offers, hint hint hint everyone, then we'll work something out.
