Been playing a lot of pre-release events for Evolutions and the 40 card deck, 4 prize card format is quite fun. Its been more fun for me than Expanded but it got me thinking. How would a legitimate competitive format using 40 card decks be in Standard?
If we look at things now, this would remove 20 cards from our decks, making card choice even more important. after drawing our hand of 7 cards and moving aside 4 cards for Prizes, we are playing with a 29 card deck before our first draw. This would mean running things like Shaymin EX and heavy draw supporters/cards become less of a thing because of decking.
In such a format we we have access to all the cards in standard, this format could be really fast paced or quite tanky. Its interesting how this format could work and how players adapt the card pool to it.
Has anyone else thought about this or played standard decks with this ruleset?
