concerning archeops

This pokemon has amazing stats. I mean, 110 speed and 140 attack is devastating. So, I was going to use this pokemon, until I realized that it had a hindering ability. Apparently, it's attack and special attack gets halved when it's hp is below half. Do you think archeops will be able to hold it's own in the current metagame? Or will it end up being in the same situation as slaking and regigigas? I was thinking he could function as a choice scarf hit-and-runner.

Stealth. Rocks.

That right there destroys him. He can only switch in twice before getting 50%. The ability is just too hindering. Honestly I don't see any uses for him in OU and don't expect to see much play for him. He will probably be in one of the lower tiers, but I don't really play BL/UU/etc. so don't know about his uses in those metagames. He is simply outclassed in OU.

Archeops is completely useless because of the ability. Sadly though he will be too good for UU and so will probably end up in a BL tier. But yeah there is no way he can get any OU play with stealth rocks around. Also priority is everywhere. Unless this dude gets a +6 defence and special defence boost I can't see him getting any play :p

Well, as for the SR, I haven't seen too much of that this gen. I see it a lot, but Stealth Rock seems to have lost some of its dominance in the metagame since gen 4. Just give Archeops a handy dandy choice band and he will create havoc with U-turn.

Just use it as an Attacking Lead (you could use SR, too). Or just have a spinner. He's still not that good, but he can wreck some face for those 1-2 turns before he dies.

I honestly think if Archeops went in uu, then it would wreak havoc, as there are barely any pokemon who can stop him in the tier. Also, does his ability activate AT 50% health or at 49% and under?

I see potential with him using a Flying Gem with Acrobatics. Using it would use up the item for a 1.5 bonus, chained to being gone before Acrobatics recognizes the held item. 110 times 1.5 for 165, plus Archeops attack, times STAB is one heck of a win. But just to be sure, is that how it works officially? Afterwards, you can Acrobatics for 110 plus attack times STAB. He's up there if that works.

Yeah, that is how it works. But after that...? But he is too broken for UU. IMO he's a perfect example of a Poke that will go BL.

"Afterwards, you can Acrobatics for 110 plus attack times STAB."

That's what happens afterwards. You are fast enough to outspeed most non-scarfed Pokemon, so let loose.

I actually tried using Archeops in Pride's tourny here, and it was quite underwhelming. Sure he does a lot of damage, but it's extremely hard use it more than 1-2 times. If you try to use Acrobatics like I did, you basically sacrifice the use of an item, aside from the first Flying Gem boost. The inability to use Life Orb or Choice Band is surprisingly detrimental. Without those power-boosting items, Archeops has a hard time OHKOing many Pokemon, meaning he'll take a hit, which will almost always put him below that 50%. After that, he just becomes dead weight to your team.

If Archeops is used, I think it'll be relegated to being a Choice-user. With what I've seen, Archeops just can't work as a dedicated sweeper. Without Life Orb or boosting moves, he doesn't have the power sweepers need. If you do use Life Orb, it will take very little effort to put him below 50%. With a Choice Scarf, Archeops could function fairly well as a revenger. He has just enough moves to pull it off. That 140 base attack would love having Choice Band as well.

Archeops has a lot of hype going for it, but I don't see it being any more than Regigigas or Slaking were last gen. The benefits of Archeops just don't make up for the support Archeops would need.

I tried using archeops a few times, pairing him with WishBliss for 100% recovery on switch-in.

But as people have said, his attack drop after 50% puts him below the competitive line.

I used Archeops on my in game team, but because of his typing and the ability he will never make it into OU. Bullet Punch scizor is a major threat aswell as mach punch breloom( Dream world ability: technician I think breloom will get more play because of that) It is part rock so fighting has a chance against it. It is a glass cannon that only has 2 shots left I guess.
